One thing I'm glad about, the officer there, and he's someone I would call an officer of the law, not a thug, said that "I can't go into great detail because she deserves some privacy, as do the victims of her crime".
Some of us, myself included, can't make it to those rallies due to distance and money restraints.
However, I can make calls to my politicians, I can use the internet to get the word out about what's going on. If signing a petition helps bring something to light to people, then I'll sign it.
If I feel strongly about it, I call my reps in Washington. I call them, email them, write them constantly.
Sure, maybe it does nothing, but you know what?
One of my senators actually called me back about one of my concerns and helped clarify stuff with me.
And you show us all why the Civil Rights Movement failed in the 60s. After all, all those petitions, marches, demonstrations...
They did nothing, right?
I mean, what you said was EXACTLY what people who derided Occupy Wall Street were saying "what good is a protest, it does nothing to change the status quo".
So, go ahead, sneer at the fact people sign petitions. Sneer at the fact that people want to make their voices heard in one of the few ways they can.
Go ahead, dismiss this as completely irrelevant.
But really, don't cry to us that your rights are being taken away if you can't even take time out of your day to sign a petition.
After all, real politicians use petitions as a basis of which to craft law.
I use Lets Plays to get through some areas of a game that I'm having trouble with. Like with Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds, got stuck at one part, looked up where to go on a Lets Play, got through it easily after that.
You DO realize that this hits people who do reviews, previews and interviews for games and people who work on games like Angry Joe, right?
Argue what you want about Let's Plays, ootb, reviews, previews and interviews CLEARLY fall under fair use and UNDER U.S. COPYRIGHT LAW, it SPECIFICALLY states that Fair Use is NOT infringing!
One more thing, I'm so glad that people didn't waste their time in the 60s. That whole Civil Rights Movement was just a waste of time, nothing changed at all and it failed miserably, didn't it?
When your rights are completely eroded away and you go "why didn't anyone say anything?!" we can point back and say "well, no one wanted to waste their time signing anything or calling their representatives or anything".
So, in short...
Don't complain when you lose your rights, for you do not complain while you still have them.

However, that's basically what the TV Network Execs are saying is why Aereo should go out of business, because of it.

Did you know that many of those legends are a "close copy" and derive their work from prior work?
Hell, read the legend of Sigurd/Sigfried of the Norse, you'll notice how DAMN close it is to both King Arthur and Achilles.
Hell, every legendary hero has roots from the Epic of Gilgamesh, the first written Hero from over 6,000 years ago.
