LOL i was not aware of that. Thats too funny, especially the way its implemented in the states. Tax you on all your holdings at once as if you had liquidated it. Thats rich. Or poor, depending on your perspective. Also the assumption that anyone moving out worth more than 2 million is doing so for tax purposes? Again, rich.
This is true, however, I was travelling from Ottawa to Edmonton, and regardless, zippos arent pressurized, and the policy is set specifically forbidding zippos, and NOT pressurized lighters. Its just stupid, and makes 0 technical sense. If pressure were actually the reason, then zippos should be allowed and bic lighters banned (although they arent pressurized either, they are sealed, so pressure could conceivably be applied if the relief valve at the bottom failed).
Rockafeller laws. Nuff said. They are moving one direction, and although we take a few stumbling steps towards it, we generally dont do quite as badly.
Other examples include bombing Baghdad, criminalizing personal copying, etc. We arent perfect, but their problems are thankfully not ours.
I dont think we will, our airport security is still fairly benign. I fly lots, and never have a problem. The only real issue I ever had was trying to take my 1 lighter on board, but once it was a nice zippo, and the security agent told me I had to check it in case it exploded with the change of pressure.
I tried to explain that a) a zippo did not use pressurized fuel, but soaked cotton and ignites fumes, and b) travelling in an airplane decreases your pressure, and then back to normal but never increases it as that involve travelling below the surface of the earth... But rules are rules and I checked my lighter.
Just so you know, as a Canadian it is highly unlikely that I will ever visit your country because of this, and other customs actions taken (laptop searches, etc.)
And thats too bad, because I have lots of tourism dollars. My organization has ceased sending us to training in the US because they dont want to be held liable under Canadian law for some American sexually assaulting us. They would rather the extra expense of sending us to Europe, or waiting for things to come here.
Also, how do you say that China treats dissidents poorly when your government sexually assaults law abiding citizens? And yes, it is sexual assault. Did that girl ask the TSA agent to put his hands in her pants? Even if she did, can she legally give consent for that? Can parents legally give consent to have another adult put their hands in her pants?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: This site is just out of touch.
A lot, because of the value they place on their life. Air is actually a great example of the point you are arguing against. Its price is 0, its abundant and non-scarce. BUT, because of the absolute need of it we have, its value is VERY high. And because of that extremely high value, when the supply becomes short and demand shoots up people would pay almost anything for it.
Thats an example of how value and price are different, but connected. In that the price people will pay for something is based on the demand for it and its value.
I just gotta say, you're here trolling for 'artists' to make infinite money off their creative output, slamming mike for supposedly trying to make money off his creative output? I dont even get it anymore. I dont know the guy, dont feel I need to defend him or anything, but do you even think this shit through? It started out funny, now its just sad...
Oh, this DRM was not poorly implemented. It took 3 years for them to crack this thing. Took less than 5 months with the 360 to figure out how to fool the DVD drive. Sony had a pretty complex certificate system preventing games from playing even if hacked firmware on the drive said the disc was ok. So he clearly broke the DMCA as its written, or he literally stole it from Sony, but i highly doubt that.
Heh, no, its trying to pull a particle that doesnt exist in our universe, into our universe. Right now if you say the higgs boson exists, you would be wrong, but if they succeed, they will change that unchangeable truth. Pretty cool.

By the way, the next time you accuse Mike in a post of making ad homs, you should then avoid calling him a "disingenuous slimeball". By the way, "disingenuous slimeball" is basically a thinly veiled attempt to insult someone in the most character possible. Its not a race to use the biggest meaningless word. Also, you're stupid and using it wrong, which is funny.

So, if Mike is pretending to know less than he does, then he really knows EVERYTHING about copyright, and you shouldnt be arguing with him. Fool.
Another way of looking it though, is that Sony didnt end up with a court decision setting precedent that unlocking the PS3 is illegal.... its just a settlement, and he DID technically break the DMCA (as loathsome as that is), so its better this than get ruled against.

"Our collective morals have always supported fair, equal competition."
This is the biggest load of bullshit you've spun yet, and you've spun a few doozies. Clearly you know NOTHING of anthropology if you think our 'collective morals' have ALWAYS done anything. Also, the idea of 'collective morals' is in itself a logical inconsistency. You can talk about our collective ethics have always DEALT with fairness, or tried to incorporate it. I would still disagree, and you'd still be wrong, but at least thats an argument. But to say that there is such as a thing as 'collective morals' is insane.
Whos part of this collection? 'society'? Who's society? Mine? Yours? China's? India's? And always? For a concept that has only existed for about 5% of recorded human history? Or were cave drawings protected and controlled against infringement? Was the second sabertooth tiger we found on a cave wall morally wrong?

You cannot 'copy' money. You can copy a Monetary Note (bill or check) but 'money' is an ephemeral concept alluding to a nations wealth in resources, both human and physical. Its a philosophical construct we use to codify a Market/Barter system.
And actually, all economics is as a science is 'copying' money (ie, moving it around) over and over again to increase the economic impact of every dollar. By your own logic, copying songs over and over again would increase their musical impact.

Noun: The regard that something is held to deserve; the importance or preciousness of something: "your support is of great value
The regard it is held in. How does copying a song decrease the 'regard it is held in'?
