One of these days, I sincerely hope, the US is going wake up to the fact that their picnic is suffering an infestation. Just hope that all those annoying things crawling all over the potato salad and sandwiches, and drowning in your glasses of koolaid or beer, are ants not wasps.
It took the Roman empire close to a thousand years to get this fouled up. You've done it in under 250; a quarter of the time.
... which means a motion to dismiss under this law will be more difficult to get granted should the court decide the allegedly libelous statements do not pertain to public interest matters.

Re: Re: Re: They brought this on themselves with insider trading
... a 3rd party auditer (often working for the government) can quickly come in to do an audit to settle the dispute. Such protections don't exist online.
That should be easier to do on a computer, including online. Every server process from ntp through packaging managers write logfiles. It'd be simple to put together a program that inhales multiple logs and sorts by datestamp connecting like records to reconstruct exactly what happened and when, perusable at leisure as long as the logs exist.
... I pay three times what I should be (according to their fake program guidelines, anyway).
That's exactly what they did to me. $22.nn / mo. initially, billed as "doubled" after six mo., final bill $66.nn / per mo. and still rising, $70.nn / mo. now. I'm north of the 49th parallel in Canuckistan, btw.
Your comment would make a little more sense if you were talking about economic status rather than race.
All through this thread, I've been thinking of the Bob Newhart show with Larry, Darrel, and his other brother Darrel. I don't remember seeing many chicanos or blacks in that show, but poor people, yup.
... but I could totally see Comcast and/or CenturyLink trying to tie up or toss out the votes under some procedural trick or simply claiming that it doesn't matter what the votes were, the state wide law(that they purchased and wrote) takes precedence.
Well sure, and injunctions, countersuits, appeals to higher courts or related officials who'll file appeals and injunctions for them, and lawyers fees are a tax deductable business expense so it helps lower their taxes, ...
i) You've got to wonder who they think they're fooling with all of this.
ii) They don't fsckin' care what anybody thinks. It's all legal, so ptheh. Meanwhile they clean up and pay the paltry fine if it ultimately goes against them. Oh, and capitalism.
Either one or both or some of each of that's right out there in plain view. Fells like meedieval England or Paris or Rome or Moscow. Plus ca change, ...
In both cases, there can be a measure of skill involved, such as researching past performance, particularly with respect to key factors like surface conditions (wet track/wet playing field).
I'd just like to point out everything there applies as well to the little NFL lottery cards you can buy in any corner store and gas station and supermarket. I know a guy who plays them. He seldom loses.
As everyone knows, there's exploits, and then there's exploits. An exploit that causes a Windows box to BSOD is one thing. An exploit that quietly gives an attacker remote root (admin) access is another thing entirely. If that 90% they disclose is the former and the remaining 10% is the latter, yeah I can see they're being perfectly truthful here.
Thanks to Snowden, nobody in their right mind who knows anything believes a word they say anymore. I can't imagine who they think they're fooling other than mainstream media types who'll swallow anything to get the next high placed administration source leak.
There is so much "fail" in her complaint, it's ridiculous. Whereas most of us have to actually work for our paycheck, care about the quality that we produce, care about customer satisfaction with what we're selling, she can't even be bothered to proofread her response, and this is "Public Relations" speaking!
The very idea they need a "Chief Diversity Officer" says to me they've in the past been execrable at this, round-filing applications from anyone who isn't white male.
That they think adding a "Chief Diversity Officer" to "The Team" is somehow going to paper over this is laughable, besides the fact that nobody's going to believe his job has anything to do with diversifying their workforce. That's obviously just his title, and it's pretty obviously a baldfaced lie to conform with stupid feel good congressional rules.
Pretty sweet job she's got there. I wouldn't be surprised if she's pulling down six figures a year for this sort of performance, besides helping to make the yearly corporate photo look nice and diverse.
Six hundred million dollar fine for not doing one thing they promised to do? Just imagine what it would have been had the FCC had a backbone and cared about consumers more than it cared about regulatory capture and the revolving door.
Nobody gets away with this sort of performance anywhere in the world without bribing the hell out of those who're supposed to be ensuring you're complying with minimum standards of performance.
Re: Re: Re: Throwing out the baby with the bath water?
You're quite the ditz. This's a classic case of "kneejerk, redneck reaction", not to mention completely missing the point of the article which is that police are peace officers who should be enforcing the law and protecting citizens from would be offenders, not a military organization fighting a war against domestic insurgents.
In the immortal words of Cheech & Chong, "Bailiff, whack his peepee!"
We shouldn't have to in the first place! Our elected representatives are *our* elected representatives and shouldn't be selling protectionist favors to special/corporate interests for campaign donations (or hookers & blow).
It's a shame that Mike, who runs a think tank dedicated to an abundance of ideas, won't share his own ideas.
I've watched on numerous occasions when Mike held his nose and *again* attempted to get you to understand his point of view. For whatever reason, you don't want to and refuse to. Is it any surprise that he'd want to cut his losses and just walk away now?
You're not fooling anybody, you know. It's impossible to believe you can read this article and not see yourself and your liege lords as the problem which is being discussed. Others are discussing a problem and looking for solutions all can agree with. You're pushing your agenda and ignoring anyone who says differently.
Not when the rich elite ruling class thinks you are sub human.
I believe the Sioux taught that rich, elite ruling class they were mistaken, fatally so, when they kicked Custer's ass to hell and back. There's not a damned thing offensive about "Fighting Sioux." It's a compliment when your oppressor wants to be known as one who respects your ability. The more capable your enemy is reflects on your own strength.
The Sioux should be proud to have taught them this lesson.

That appears to me to be the real reason for blocking Tsu and Google+, because by directing people to those sites, users are "stealing" from Facebook.
