I called them for fun a couple weeks ago, asked about the caps. I said I would switch from Comcast if they would drop the caps. They said "only 2-3% ever go over". I said "then why do you need the caps?". I should keep calling, like once a week & turn them down due to the caps.
Most are of these states reps are term limited so the citizens petitioning is a waste of time. The reps know who their bosses are & it's not the voters.
IMO only but only a few people actually complain when there is a real problem. Most will just shrug their shoulders & suck it up. Many will cancel streaming services, others will pay the overages.
Only a small percentage of people will actually complain so I can imagine there are lot of angry people out there.
I've yet to hear any good explanation as to why they want to get into these phones. All I keep hearing is "we don't want to leave any stone unturned..." or something to that effect.
Can someone please tell me what a criminal might leave on a phone that law enforcement could use? Pictures of people that they can claim are accomplices? Movies of them breaking the law? We all know that criminals can be stupid but I think these things are actually quite rare. WAIT! A drug dealer's to-do list?
They have all the calls & texts & quite likely recordings of the actual calls. What is it about these phones that are making them go to all this effort?
This makes me a little sad. Not horribly sad, just a little. I'm glad AnyDVD is not dead, I'm sad about investing any cash for me needs. All I really do is time shift. Rent when I have the time, watch when I have the time. This is just a convenience thing.
My AnyDVD HD informed me of an available update just a couple days ago. Clicked on it & got the latest version. They are honoring my lifetime subscription.
My license was purchased many years ago. Not that I am easily pleased with software but I never found it clunky at all.
22 years ago I changed careers from construction to engineering. I then proceeded to gain 60 lbs in about 7 years.
When I got fed up with the heartburn, sleep apnea, & feeling like crap all the time turned it around. At first all I did was walk at lunch & stay away from snacks & I lost 20 lbs in about a year. Then I stepped it up by getting a gym membership & going 3-4 times a week. No more white foods at that point, except cauliflower & I lost another 20.
That was it, I was stuck at that point. Varied +/-10 lbs but could not lose any more weight. Then I started the Paleo diet/lifestyle. Following it very loosely, cheating regularly, I was able to lose another 30 lbs. Plus I feel fantastic!
The Paleo Diet is the one that all the experts love to hate. NO GRAINS!?!?! It could be that the diet is rated so low is because most find it very hard to maintain. Some can't stop the bread & pasta. But it works for me. Maybe because I was close to it before I started. Just meat, lots of vegetables, & fruit for me. I eat all I need, delicious meals, & I'm never hungry. The result of working out daily & eating well has made me in the best shape I've been since my early 20s.
How about some data on that Mr. Data? Drug induced delirium along with some sort of interaction with LEAs is likely extremely rare. But I didn't make the claim, citation please.
I did do a fast Google & it seems that most of these cases the person died in custody. Huh, imagine that.
Regardless of what is being asked of Apple... what exactly could be on this phone this is not already known? Is it not true that in the first 24 hours law enforcement all communications to & from this device?
Seriously. What am I missing here? Will there be a to-do list or something? Something other than pictures of their kids or their last vacation?
IMO. It hurts the low income folks and means nearly nothing to the high income people. Yes, it draws some revenue from the underground economy but I would like to see data on that before I believe it's anything substantial.
What to help the the brick & mortar? Eliminate sales taxes entirely.
Right now, TODAY, there is great "abundance of freely-available high-quality addictive, destructive substances". No war on drugs? Please explain how we can make it more of a war. Torture suspects? Firing squads for convicts? Build more prisons? Invade another country? Do you really believe some sort of escalation of the war on drugs will decrease the circulation of illegal substances?
I've been friends with dozens of addicts/alcoholics. Friends & family. Many got clean, many died, some are still out there. I am quite aware of the damage done by substance abuse. Most of said damage is the result of alcohol abuse. Diverting the money wasted to treatment & actually decreasing the demand makes more sense than making even more of them criminals.
Is there still such a thing as a U.S. company? It seems like they are all multi-national corporations now days. OK there are a lot of little firms are still U.S. owned, I know.
Seriously, a big one. Yes, both parties kiss multinational business's ass but one party gets their head so far up they should be referred to as brown-neckers.
Here in Michigan the database of Medical users is supposed to be completely confidential, as far as that goes. Law enforcement is drooling at getting access to the database. They claim it is to avoid raiding the wrong home. Of course their first priority would be to be sure there are no leaks once they get access to it.
As much as I love some mushrooms, nicely browned in some butter or a dozen other ways, fungus has caused me never ending grief. They kill my tomato plants.
Septoria Leaf Spot, early blight, late blight, you name one, my tomato plants likely got it sometime. This past year was the worst, all plants dead by August. That is after using every possible prevention available. I may have found Interstellar more plausible than most. I've seen nothing new in years to combat blight.
This coming year I'm moving to a new community garden, one that hopefully isn't loaded with fungal spores. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it. The new garden is organic only.
