I'd argue that Tim is using the colloquial rather than the technical term. Here's the section from the article:
"sex offender registry-related URLs (only one of which isn't a top-level domain)"
His point being that the goober requested delisting of all but one of the top-level URLs rather than any sub-pages that are associated with said goober. The result of which would be to delist the ensure sites, which would disappear all records from the index. There might be a couple of other ways he could have phrased it but this is succinct and it isn't wrong. Maybe if he'd capitalized Top-Level Domain then I might agree but readability is important too so I'm with Cushing.
So many things lately remind me of this great quote
"We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections. You gather a group of middle-aged, middle-class, middle-income voters who remember with longing an easier time, and you talk to them about family and American values and character." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112346/quotes
It seems to me that most of the people trying to drum up a moral panic are doing so to inflate themselves and, often, con money out of the unsuspecting/unthinking hordes.
I also trot this one out sometimes:
"For the record: yes, I am a card-carrying member of the ACLU. But the more important question is why aren't you, Bob? Now, this is an organization whose sole purpose is to defend the Bill of Rights, so it naturally begs the question: Why would a senator, his party's most powerful spokesman and a candidate for President, choose to reject upholding the Constitution?"
The people were warm, generous and had an easy love for life. It is sorry to see that Franco's legacy of repression, cruelty and capriciousness continues three decades later. I truly hope the people regain control of their government before incidents like this are the norm instead of the unusual.
How about not creating (or paying to create) cyberweapons in the first place?
Lest you escalate the computer arms race against other nation states, much like the cold war. Worse, you are also escalating against hackers - people who, by definition, have much less at risk and are mostly free from retaliation.
IP addresses are to Internet users like numbered shopping carts at the grocery store are to shoppers. Yes, it is associated with a user for a period of time, but there is no good way to identify users after the fact.
Because it happened. We have proof. Even it it was a state that requires two party consent and a platypus singing duets with a parakeet tough noogies, this is a "bad hombre' who belongs in prison.
So none of the seven agents were able to provide a restraining force (good cop)? I don't buy it. I think the problem is endemic in law enforcement because so many of them see everything through a lens of 'Us vs Them' instead of 'I pledged to uphold the Constitution of the United States". Which is sad.
What kind of nanny state BS is this? Why can't an adult be trusted to make a decision here, especially if they elect not to enable the ability to connect to WiFi on the doll?
And just last night commissioned a wood-cut piece of art from someone on one of the social networks. I really dislike paying the big corporations for their recycled drek.
Also, Miles Barber, welcome to the Streisand Effect!
Happy to have you as a member of my popcorn club.
Wow, you're one special idiot. I heard you published a column in which you derided female City Council members, saying they could “barely spell their name.” That statement makes you a misogynist in my book, but that is my own opinion and I did not read it in anything published in Santa Clara.
