Take a look at the larger picture here. It isn't just about games -- it's about the internet in general. Does anyone think that China might -- just might -- see this as yet another tool in their ongoing war against free speech?
Look, comrade! The internet games cause violence in our precious youth and leads to death. Let's ban the internet!
Well, Al Gore is full of hot air... no wonder the planet is heating up. Hey, if he invented the internet, does that mean he invented internet porn, too? Bad Al! Baaad!
You are so right. Public schools are little prisons for the mind, where no independent thoughts are welcome. And they are a big waste of taxpayer money.
But most of all, they waste student's lives and time. I'm a victim of public schools; I learned because I had to hide in the library at lunch or be beaten up. There were about 4 of us, and we read all the books. That is how we got our education, because in a 50-minute class period the teachers spent so much time trying to calm down the bad kids that they ended up with only enough time to issue homework assignments.
Forced busing in my area moved students from a poorer, minority school to a larger, newer building. Fights erupted every day. I was left at school - 15 miles from home with no transportation. And the ninth graders lost graduation credits. But who cared? The judge who forced the busing got a pat on the back. He was Mr. Politically Correct. But the students got the shaft. No child left behind? Well, the school bus left me...
I'd rather not send them to jail so they can lounge at my expense. Make them work nasty jobs and garnish their pay for the rest of their lives so they can pay back some of the money.
Is this what we're going to hear for 4 years? Every time someone disagrees with or says something that isn't worshipful to the president, then they're a bigot? And you have the nerve to tell other people they're saying something stupid?
Even those who disagree with you or your politics have their right to free speech. And that doesn't make them bigots. If anything, you are the bigot for bringing it up. Please stop labeling people.
I have the Swiss Army knife Classic, which actually works quite well. You still have to watch out for the sharp edges but this will get the package open for you.
Actually, most building materials are recycled, especially metals. Copper is going at nearly $3.00 per pound and you can bet someone is going to truck it to a recycling plant instead of the dump. Do a search before you start harping on the "wasteful USA" because some of us are sick of hearing it. China is one of the most polluted countries in the world.
The upside to the radar/lidar approach is that blind people could also adapt this technology to other applications, such as climbing stairs or avoiding rocks on the sidewalk. But no, auto makers will probably be sued by lawyer$ to put this stuff on their cars.
Everyone is missing the real reason to go after Google: money.
Why sue the kids or their parents when they probably don't have much money, when you can sue millionaires? This is the real impetus behind this stupidity. GREED.
Yes, by all means write to your congressman and senator. Even if they don't reply the way you want them to, at least you'll have made an effort. Don't be one of those people who sit and whine and wait for everyone else to fix the problem.
I think your approach sounds like a reasonable one. It's more of a burden for an individual to keep renewing copyrights, but a corporation has more resources at its disposal. And I think "works by dead people" should probably be opened to the public, anyway, or at least limit to 5 years after their death.
I hear you! Ever since they started with the "Dream Team" I stopped watching the Olympics. I used to enjoy seeing all the different sports; now it's all basketball. Blah! Same old stuff.
