And so the other two branches go running around like headless chickens doing close to whatever they want while the judges just sit back and go "its not my problem.. yet"
The "courts" do nothing without a formal complaint filed.
After two hundred years I would have figured the courts would have figured out that "giving a bad actor enough leeway to hang themselves with when we FINALLY decide to come down on them" isn't working so well.
Our government is supposed to be a three part system to keep one from overreaching but that doesn't work if one branch is passive and just sits around waiting for someone to complain. When the executive or legislative branch does something that they are expressly not allowed to do or is self evidently against the constitution, the courts need to exercise their power of judging the law and tell them to stop that shit.
So. The next question is, will a federal court call ICE in front of it and ask them why they are issuing "subpoenas" that are for all intents and purposes counterfeits?
How can you attach an ammendment onto a bill that has absolutely nothing to do with each other. A better question would be why are they allowed to attach non fiscal ammendments to bills like this in the first place.
Normally I would say this is just Dumb, but the vast majority of politicians have the appearance of being crooked and corrupt so I shouldn't be too suprised.
Right. So I'm supposed to like and respect a government that spends the vast majority of time deadlocked or voting straight down party line instead of actually debating the issue, working out a compromise or voting on the issue in the manner the people they are supposed to represent want?
So.. why hasn't there been an Article 25 movement on this guy yet. He sure seems to be expressing some pretty dangerous ideas that could cause some serious harm to others, and as the President he does in fact have the power to carry them out.
The fact that the terms of the settlement, aside from the requirement of 500k getting wired, is secret tells me that Verizon managed to work in more loopholes to get out of their side of the agreement.
Disney sure likes to talk the talk when it comes to copyright. But when it comes time to walk they start acting like someone missing both legs but perched on Mickeys shoulders while wearing a trenchcoat.
He will get to see them sure, but I'll bet dollars to donuts that it will be one of those "no cameras, no recording devices, no note taking" kind of viewing.
Other approaches include tracking the movements of players' eyes, to see if they are looking away with suspicious frequency, and algorithms that are claiming to be able to spot "deviation from the proclivities of an honest human player".
I just hope they remember that a master of any art shouldn't fear the master standing before them, but rather the amateur who thinks he knows what he is doing. That algorithm may accuse the weaker player of cheating when they are just simply flailing about with very little clue about what they are doing.
If they believe that Twitter and Facebook doing moderation on the article is election tampering, shouldn't they be going after the NY Post for election tampering also? Oh wait.. the original article was critical of their political opponent, thats just fine and hunky dory.
I really don't understand how this many otherwise smart and shrewd individuals can't grasp the notion that the 1st ammendment applies to the government. There is nothing in it that says an individual (and thanks to Citizens United, corporations get 1st amendment rights to) can't censor and moderate speech however they want.
But like other posters are saying, did anyone in the Texas "justice system" even watch the movie? Or more to the point, did they only watch for the "naughty bits" instead of seeing those bits as part of a larger story that shows the experiences of preteen girls?
They proably pixalated the scene in question so the Grand Juries imagination had to be engaged and people almost always imagine something is worse then it actually is.
I know it is Take Two that is in the hot seat here but if I were the WWE I would be more worried about the tattoo arm sleeves they were selling. It's one thing to faithfully depect a person in a video game, tis a whole nother matter to sell a product whose entire purpose is to depict only a part of that person's likeness.
If they know this, then they have another source for the information. If they know this and truly do have another source for the information then why do they need this additional source?
So.. if all those companies put as many satellites up as they want (upwards of 15k+), what is that going to do to our space trash problem and possible launch window issues?
