Ok, so say they DO get their "wish" and the tech companies pull all encryption and they make it where you can't install anything at all (unlikely, I know but work with me here).
Say they do get their wish and encryption is eradicated....so tell me Senator....what happens the first time YOUR credit card or bank information gets out in the wild and YOU have your identity stolen? They're just following the "law" but you'll want someone arrested, I am sure.
Encryption is necessary to day to day life in the tech world. It is necessary in the banking world. In the business world in general. Encryption should not be touched. It should continue to get stronger as new threats come up.
IF encryption is outlawed, good luck getting the horses back into the barn once they realize the errors of their ways. But, who am I kidding, they aren't the people that will get hurt the most. They'll just dance around with their fingers in their ears saying "lalala I can't HEAR you" and look more stupid than they already do.
Not just in Marshall now but the idiots mention the town I'm from. Marshall is bad enough. I'll be glad when something is finally done about what's going on in the Easter District and the idiots have to shop somewhere else, or the doors get shut entirely.
I've been wondering why the antitrust or anti-monopoly laws haven't been getting used against the big ISP's. The government broke up Ma Bell back in the day and it seems like we're heading back in that direction again. They could argue that it's not a true monopoly because there "are" other ISP's out there, but they're regional monopolies that should NOT exist in my opinion. They need to go. Every city, town, rural area should have at least two options for ISP's, no excuses.
I am suing Guttormson because he has made ridiculous statements that are...
Anyone else notice in the quote towards the bottom that he referred to her as "he". Makes me wonder who he's talking about. Can't even keep it straight himself.
I wouldn't doubt anything an end-user might do. I'm glad my cable provider doesn't do caps...yet. I'd hate to think how much my house goes through in a month. Between XBMC, Netflix on multiple computers, plus when I have to login remotely for work and just other general web usage. One daughter loves binge-watching YouTube videos in HD. The other leaves Netflix on all night. Our usage would be well beyond the cap before we're halfway through the month, much less the first week probably.
Sad to see some of my local PD's, even the one in my town, requesting an MRAP....WHY? They have an armored vehicle already. Guess they just want an upgrade from the "small" one they have. It's also laughable that they say they support 14 counties.....when there are other teams around that could be called. I find it hard to believe that they support what they say they do.
Anyone else catch this? Just shows the technical prowess of Sen. Johnson to think an email is a "website." Guess that's what you get when you have lawyers and businessmen deciding technical policy when the majority of them have no freakin' clue what a website is versus an email address.
It is the Federal courthouse in Marshall, NOT Tyler, where the suits are happening. Many of the companies filing put an "office" in Tyler or the surrounding cities to make it look a bit more legit that they are filing in Marshall rather than California or NYC or wherever they might actually be located.
Who needs to pay for streaming. I'll just watch what I want. Granted, there is a bit of a learning curve and not EVERY show is available, the bulk of the popular shows today and in the past are available if you know where to look. We haven't had DISH in our house in over 2, going on 3 years now.
We do have Netflix on small RCA Roku-wannabes in the kids rooms, but that's it. We can still watch all the current shows and go back and watch the first episodes of Family Guy, American Dad, Southpark, hell ER if we wanted to. And I can watch most live sports from around the world without blackouts.
Yeah, like a crooked judge too. It wouldn't surprise me if they did some digging to find his bank account was influenced by some plaintiffs. Or someone that has deep pockets.
I live just a short drive from this courthouse. This place is notorious for the patent cases. Probably because the jury pool is tech-stupid in most cases.
I would love to see an investigation into this court for it's willingness to side with plaintiffs when the cases don't merit that.
Maybe look into the judge's financials too. All of them that sit on that court. The skating rink is an annual thing in Marshall. But, that could explain why I've seen Samsung billboards at more high school football games in the area the last year or two.
Start shaming these idiotic companies that attack the "little guy" that has NOTHING to do with the industry of the bigger company? Public shaming might, I emphasize MIGHT, help them realize how stupid they are.
