I remembered the good ole days of e-mail, where an e-mail would take a week or more to get across the country on Fidonet. Those were some great times...
It's possible that those are the only two sensible people in government that are actually daring to question the USTR or other issues that are in line with this blog.
The History Channel, The channel that is trying to get into the history books for being the network that broadcasted a reality show for every blue collar profession...
Come watch out new series Garbage Collectors, depicting the realities of people working in the refuse collection business. Followed by, The Porcelain Kings. Follow the exciting adventure of father and son as they install toilets across America. Next week make sure you catch People Movers, where we observe the day to day interactions of a Greyhound bus driver as he takes passangers from Seattle to New York...
I think common sense started to suffer as soon as somebody came up with the idea of trying to fool-proof everything. If we stopped trying to protect the stupid people from themselves and let nature take it's course, I'm sure common sense would make a come back.
On the History Channel? If that's was the case I think it would be a reality show following red necks that work in an army surplus store. Perhaps pitting them up in a competition with another nearby army surplus store to see who can sell more crap. They would ensure that there is a father-son love hate relationship, the son would likely have a girlfriend/wife that constantly berates him. I guess they could make the girlfriend/wife have a strained relationship with his parents. Throw in some other artificial drama for the cameras. Voila, you have yourself a new series for the History Channel. =P
I believe the Borg still lives on. In the absence of a Queen, another existing drone is converted to fill her place. That's how Data/Picard killed her in First Contact, then they killed her again at the end of Voyager, and I believe yet again in the books from what I've heard. Though I was also told that the books say that Queen actually escaped destruction by Voyager.
Hey, the Internet needs to sleep too. What are you, some Foxconn slave driver? How would you like being asked millions of questions and delivering thousands of hours of porn per second and not have a break? Yet, I try to get a 6 year old to make shoes for only 18 hours per day and I'm the slave driver. Lousy double standard...
Q only had to save their butt after he threw them into the fire to begin with. If I pushed you into the path of an oncoming car, only to then push you back out of the way, I doubt you would say that I saved you.
You could also argue that if the Borg never learned of the Federation's existence, due to Q sending the Enterprise, that the Borg and Federation may not have met or at least not as soon as they had. Though following that tangent, the Federation would have also been caught completely unprepared for their eventual arrival. So in an indirect way, Q may have saved the Federation... The Dominion vs the Borg would have been fun to see. Assimilating shape shifters into the Borg could have been interesting. I wonder what The Prophets would have had to say about Borg Bajorans.
I see your 300 baud modem and raise you smoke signals. The problem was my neighbour throwing interference into my communication by having a bonfire in his backyard. Lukily he updated to a new magical smokeless heating system soon afterwards. As far as the lawn mowing, GET OFF MY LAWN! =P
Well, they are taxing my income to prop up the government... So if we are going to save one inefficient and out of touch dinosaur, we might as well save them all.
Back in my day, we paid $15/month to connect at 14400 bps. That's not including the other $20/month or so for the extra phone line we needed as well. People are so spoiled now... =P
There are some laws that countries apply outside their borders, though they can only be used to charge that person if they are stupid enough to return. Sex tourism laws are one example.
