Maybe Steven Biss could join Richard Liebowitz and Charles Harder in representing Donald Trump in his frivolous lawsuit against the social media companies!
I'm also a professional Developer (I'm a QA Tester for Playdots, now a part of Take-Two Interactive), and I hate DRM as well. That being said, it's not my choice to put it in games.
It's interesting, because I do my PC Game shopping over at GOG and itch.io mainly, and while they're not as dominant as Steam, the fact that they're still around means that there still is a demand for DRM-free games.
it just shows how you are still cashing in on your 15 minutes of fame which was what a decade and a half ago?
That ignores three things:
That Mike Masnick doesn't copyright his work, meaning that everybody else is free to "cash in" on his work,
That Mike Masnick did a shitload of other influential stuff, such as influencing Jack Fucking Dorsey with his "Protocols, Not Platforms" paper for the Knight First Amendment Institute, and
That Disney has been cashing on a cartoon mouse for over 90 years so what difference does it make that Mike Masnick is notable for stuff he does and doesn't even assume monopolies over?
I think IRC is a chat service, whereas Usenet is an email list-service. They're predecessors, but I wouldn't count them as social media (unless you consider Slack and Discord to be social media).
Look, I disagree with Mike Masnick (I realize he didn't write the article, but bear with me) on Unions. Collective Bargaining for the most part serves as a check on management. That being said, I draw the line on police unions, because while other unions would show solidarity with them when they strive for better wages, they don't show any solidarity back; it's a one-way street for them.
I voted your comment for "funny" but I also voted it for "insightful" just for the fact that you have emojis engaging in dialogue (that isn't a shitshow like that godawful Emoji Movie).
