Now what happens when it is the person on the receiving end of harassment who tries to publicly shame some disgusting human being by posting visual evidence of them in flagrante delicto and the aggressor claims "revenge porn!"? Will they be denied any other route than a neutered and costly in-court option when the best, most lasting results would be just to enshrine on Youtube or Imgur what they did for the world to see?
You probably aren't far off the mark. We all know that .gov works very hard on the "security through obscurity" doctrine which most know is the hallmark of no security at all: great minds think up the perfect solution, enshrine it in law, then when its shown how fragile and worthless their solution is - obfuscate to the point of absurdity until forced to change. Rewind, hit play...ad infinitum.
My problem is with cops referring to non-cops as 'citizens'. It implies they consider themselves either above or apart from the citizenry. Whether this is a symptom or cause of the paradigm they find themselves in, I can't say. I'm just pointing out the error in case anyone thinks it is true as a matter of course.
Re: Re: For the FBI to justify their jobs of course......
It's actually much worse than no security, perceived security encourages more people to risk more important communication and data using the illusion of security.
Sentencing someone more harshly to "send a message" is just coming down more harshly on one person for all possible future crimes of others. That's deep.
At least this sends the message to the hundred thousand other scoundrels and 20 other dark net marketplace staff members that this kind of thing is frowned upon by the government.
The crappiness of these companies is a subject which has my rapt attention since I'm a relatively pleased Charter customer, as bad as it is...things can only get worse with Time/Warner. Damn, I thought Charter just got out of bankruptcy, how the hell is this even happening?
Re: Past time to get rid of license plates altogether
This is the kind of worry I have with more and more police being made to wear cameras, also. Even if it might mitigate the current obvious problems I think a point will come where me might regret the clarion call to force a Robe of Eyes on each and every LEO.
