Of what happening? What the heck are you guys talking about? The "article" and all the comments up to here are blank. In fact, the comment I was responding to just disappeared... Wait, where am I???
"Can you show me a case where Sony has sued any single tinkerer who did work in their own home, without public discussion or public disclosure? Nope, has never happened. The only people they sue are people who break systems and provide that hack for others to use."
In today's connected society, find me a hacker who DOES NOT COMMUNICATE with ANYONE. What kind of idiot hacker would tinker in his garage and not tell his buddies about it (at the VERY least).
There is a big difference between respecting someone's RIGHT to a decision and respecting their actual DECISION.
I respect people's right to choose their own religion, but if they choose anything but atheism I think they're an illogical, superstitious moron, so I don't have to respect their actual CHOICE.
I agree with AC on this one. I think ANYONE using any music in any way for their business should be required BY LAW to give 45% of their revenue to the copyright holders. :-)
I also think that anyone using the music for personal use should give 45% of their GROSS income to the copyright holder.
After all, we should be so lucky to get such a valuable raw material so cheap!

1) become informed
2) stop buying the product and services of any companies involved with those lobbyists
3) get everyone you know to stop buying the products and services of any companies involved with those lobbyists
So, your argument for getting the money as taxing is some low probability of the money going to fund terrorism???
Stretch much?
Most likely, that $600MM will feed back into Texas companies, small and large, thus growing the economy.
Saying that giving $600MM instead to the Texas government will grow the economy more is such a liberal attitude, I don't even want to dignify it with a response.
Of course, I must, so why not give everything we make to the government and let THEM figure out what best to do with it?
Why not just let the government provide us with food, clothing, shelter, vehicles, and such? After all, that would grow the economy more than letting the citizens of Texas decide what to do with their own money, right? They would just use it to buy cheap stuff from other countries.
OH, you're thinking that everything the state of Texas would do would involve products made in Texas! I see how that works, keep ALL the money in-state. Yes, that makes perfect sense. That would DEFINITELY grow the state economy if they went completely isolationist.
