The whole copyright issue shows a glaring fault in the USA's legal system. The original intent has been corrupted so much by various courts that it no longer represents it's original intention.
It is a pity that constitutions of counties such as the USA did not include an expiry dates on amendments to the original constitutions and all laws. Many of these amendments and laws no longer reflect the will of the people and should be debated and renewed completely. After all the original constitution of the USA does start with "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Maybe it should have read "We the corporations of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect ownership of the union"
Capping data has one and one purpose only. Make more money.
The decision to impose data caps is one made by bean counters, who have about as much long term strategy ideas as a fly.
The unfortunate part of all is these so called economic masterminds and their lawyer mates are running the companies.
If one looks at all the shenanigans that is part of the entire communications industry one will find either an accountant or lawyer behind each warped dumb idea mentioned here every day.
So lets change tactics and start discrediting these non thinking twits and put them back to where they belong, the basement offices.
Developers, I mean the real ones, scientists and a host of other creative people would love to share their works. What stops them is the money man.
Development cost money and most of the money comes from a venture capitol providers or a company of sorts and all they care about is profits.
They don't care if some invention would cure cancer. They would want to charge big time for it, patent the discovery to the hilt and stuff those who are dying.
So put the blame where it belongs. The bloody greedy Rothschilds and Rockefellers of this world.
Showbiz is alive and well. A simple comparison between the number of entertainment venues in the 50's to today shows more than 10 times the number exist in most cities. These venues are attracting record numbers of patrons who want to see the artists they have encountered on the Internet in a live environment
Amateur theater is booming either at venues or seen as a YouTube video.
What has changed is now all forms on entertainment no longer need someone with deep pockets to finance projects.
I see today as being akin the the Rock & Roll explosion of the late 50's when small labels recognized the potential of the new music and low behold the same people who are fighting the Internet today are the very same who fought R&R back then.
What happened back then and will happen again is that eventually the protestors will succumb.
In 40 years time today will be looked back upon in the same fashion as us "oldies" look back at those early days of R&R.
To me this time is the 50's for today's generations.
Now back to my PC, Android phone, WiFi TV, VOIP and all the other exciting tools of this day.

For a country that raves about it's freedom it appears that the USA uses North Korea for comparison because when it comes to freedoms the USA is not much better than China.
I live in Australia and from my perspective I am glad I do.
The USA need more people like yourselves to wake up the complacent majority who cannot see that the freedoms have been slowly chipped away from the day the USA constitution was signed. The people need to remember that the constitution did not have nor has anywhere near 100% support with the main protractors remaining the same type, power hungry controllers.
I think I will sue every songwriter for using a breaching my pending patent for typing. I invented that when I first tapped my fingers on the side of my heads when I was a month old. Oh I could also claim copyright for goo gaa blbbbb. I have a recording of me saying that when I was three months old and so far no one has brought forward a recording that is older.
What is really scarey is I could probably register both claims.
Now all I have to do is prove I am a direct descendent to the caveman who firsts hummed the scales and I, along with some trillion people, can claim copyright to every song ever written. Ok, I am being absurd but then so is the whole copyright/patent system
No such thing. Democracy is an illusion. If real democracy existed minorities would have no say in running anything and that includes the handful of corporations that seem to think they rule.
In the history of Australian Politics only one Prime Minister has been beaten at an election whilst holding the PM's position. That was John Howard and that was by a high profile, well known TV personality with the support of the Labor Party.
I doubt if an Independent would even get enough votes to qualify for any election cost rebates.
As for a senate seat, well a guy in his late 20's who have never had a job in his life managed to secure a senate seat with less than 2% of the vote. If he can do it anyone can. it would be interesting if say Julian did win a seat and held balance of power.
For non Australian all this senate stuff would make little sense as the Australian Senate is a different kettle of fish to the USA one. Each state vote for their chosen candidate and the 12 with the highest percentage of the total vote win the prize. After that they do little.

The term "Don't Mess With ...." has some million or more copyright holders such as anyone who has used the term in a book, movie, comic of TV show.

Can one imagine if the current ridiculous patent and copyright had existed when the first person made a brick and designed a house we would all be paying his/her ancestors and not be allowed to vary from the original design.
Imagine if Mozart did what is done today. No orchestra would be allowed to stray from his original score and orchestra set up. And so on.

I'm still getting over the copyright owner of the Teddy Bear Song winning a case against Men At Work for using a part of the nursery song in Down Under. a part that no matter how often I listen I cannot identify that part.
Copyright should only apply to the whole song and only the original arrangement.
