unfortunately, politicians will take all the relevant bits from Epic's statement, remash them and use them as a 'typical example of why the industry needs major labels' and is then able to condemn what the band themselves did as 'piracy'
And then, labels will sue said politicians for being pirates and remashing their statement without authorization. And the world rejoices.
Or, just make a copy of the DVD and leave out everything except the movie. Then just play the copy. As a bonus, if the DVD gets damaged, you can just make another copy.
Rip the DVD and place the rip of the movie and the special features on a server, then place the DVD in a box and put it into storage. Make backups of the server periodically. Never have to worry about making another copy, and the advantage is that you can watch the DVD at any time from anywhere and don't have to worry about DVDs.
The quickest way to get rid of a bad song is to sing an even worse song. Quickly, sing some Justin Bieber stuff! /troll
"It's a Small World" trumps all. I used to wonder why people would ride that ride...now I realize they just want to get Justin Bieber our of their minds.
The units are dumbed down and talk you through proper placement of the pads, tell you to stop touching them, give ample warning and then shock via pads it told you where to put.
We have them (called AED or Automated External Defibrillators) and are properly trained on how to use them, but they are so dumbed down I am not sure why we were trained to use them. The systems can recognize when the pads are properly placed, and will not even trigger if they aren't in place (which sometimes is aggravating when you don't get the pads in the proper place, even with the "test" versions we use for training.) But the system is nice enough to tell you that the pads aren't in the right place and will tell you again where to put them. And if it senses that you are still touching the victim, it tells you a bunch of times to clear away from them. And really, if you aren't forming a connection between your heart and the pads, you aren't going to suffer a huge jolt that will stop your heart, but you will prevent the device from working properly.
These devices are taught in basic CPR classes. I've even seen the professionals using them...technology moves forward and I think the hospital defibrillators aren't the ones you used to see on TV anymore.
Shit, if you guys want to talk about great movies with a low budget, you must check out Primer.
++ on this. A little more science fiction then many people were looking for when compared to Star Wars, but well worth the rent for those who like gritty science fiction. I ended up buying it, because I wanted to watch it a couple times (to get all the stuff I missed when I rented it, and you will miss a ton of stuff.) Of course, with Netflix, I do a lot less of that since I can watch the movie over again whenever I want to (although the studios keep screwing around with that.)
Anyone or any religion that thinks death is a good thing need to keep it to themselves.
That is certainly one frame of thought on this. Myself, I disagree. I want all the idiots out there saying they think death is a good thing, because it helps us all know that they are idiots who cannot be trusted. (Now, if you meant they "should" keep it to themselves, I agree, they should for their own sake, but not for ours.)
The beauty of the 1st Amendment isn't that it protects your right to say something everyone else agrees with. If it did, then we wouldn't need the 1st Amendment. It is needed to protect you from saying something nobody agrees with, so honest discussion can occur and beliefs like this can be ridiculed in a public forum. Doing anything to censor this discussion takes the discussion underground, exactly where you don't want it to occur. If someone holds these types of attitudes, I want to know about it so that if I am dealing with these people, I can stop doing so in the future.
This is what makes the US Constitution a highly influential document in modern culture and government. Where else can you go where the most important rule of law is to be able to speak your mind. Want to talk bad about the President? There are many places where speaking ill about the President/King/etc. will get you executed or locked up. Sure, there is risk in talking bad about the President here, but the risk isn't being executed or thrown in jail. The 1st Amendment gives us all the right to speak our mind, and gives everyone else the right to disagree! For most, the disagreement will be easy and the discussion will be useful. For those who are truly out there, and aren't willing to change their ways, public condemnation and ridicule is the best tool (and those who are condemned and ridiculed still have a voice.)
They lack the ability to see that if a friend shares a track with someone else, that is better exposure than they can pay for. All they see is their share of the 99 cents Itunes would have collected going away, ignoring that if that new person likes it they will acquire more (barring them making it a huge pain in the ass to acquire).
This. I recently was sent a link to the We Are Legion movie on youtube. Watched it, then went out to try and find it on DVD. Pre-orders available from the vendor. Type of movie I am interested in watching again (like Freedom Downtime, which I still occasionally watch.) Forwarded the link off to a dozen more friends, and suspect at least one will also buy the video.
I want to watch my "free" digital copy of the movie you sold me, I do not want to log into 4 different accounts and make sure I have only an approved device to watch it on. I want to hit 3 buttons and watch it, where, when, and how I wanted. I do not need extra advertising for you, I do not want to enter a 15 digit 1 time use code each time I want to watch it.
If the digital version of We Are Legion is DRM'd, I am gonna be pissed. They say it is DRM-Free on the site, and I believe them.
There was very little anger at Sony for running a system that was EASILY infiltrated with known bugs time after time after time... etc. Even after the major hacks of their sites, they did NOTHING to audit their networks.
Oh, it was worse than that. They fired their administrators six months before the hacks started, since they felt they were paying them too much, bringing in replacements who didn't have a clue as to what they were doing, and then wondered why the hacks were successful when their replacement admins hadn't patched the systems in 6 months. A friend of mine was an administrator at Sony, who was let go. Then, after they were hacked, Sony called pleading with him and the others they had fired to come back and fix the problem. As far as he knew, nobody came back (he didn't, because he was already 5 months into a new, much better job.)
And Sony still hasn't learned apparently, since no sooner did they have their systems back up when a security researcher informed them that their passwords were able to be hacked. The company is all about short term greed at the expense of all other things, including their customers, which is why I'll never buy anything from them ever again.
Thankfully, Mike did not allow me to take explicit images of myself for use in this article.
FTFY.
Though it might be kinky for Bob, AJ, and OOB to see you with the mask, sans the Blackhawk's uniform. You might even have them stalking you as much as they do Mike.
Oh dear, I sense a disturbance in the Force. I foresee this comment section will be infested by trolls.
Wasn't Harvy Weinstein the reason why Fanboys took so long to come to the theater? He fired Kyle Newman and brought in Steve Brill to recut and reshoot the movie, only to screw it up and turn it into EuroTrip in Star Wars land. Once the fans rebelled, he was forced to bring Newman back into the picture to cut out all of Brill's crap and recut the movie in 36 hours. I heard from others who watched Newman's original cut that it was much better than the amalgam of Brill/Newman that finally appeared.
So the "disturbance in the force" was pretty accurate.
Ever since I learned (from Newman and Spacey) at Comic Con San Diego in 2008, of all the crap that went into wrestling the movie back from Weinstein/Brill, I pretty much ignore any movie that Weinstein produces now. He isn't in movie making for the art, and I can understand why he is so upset about piracy...since it effects the only reason he is in the business.
I think they might have a problem with the UK if they did that.
Didn't seem to be much of a hindrance in New Zealand. They even provided the military muscle above and beyond what was reasonable, and they knew it wasn't a good idea before they did it.
If the goal is to recoup some investment from a failed company
Wow, I was trying to think of a worse investment for the insurance companies after homeowner default insurance and I was having a hard time. And there you go, coming up with a worse investment. Now if they would just offer that insurance for restaurants, we could destroy the economy entirely.
