If she refused she would have been fired. That is her choice of course, and the next ambassador would have signed it. Of course she will be fired now anyway, so it's all the same.
But kudos to her for making a public statement. It matters not whether beforehand or after the fact.
I can understand why this is a criminal case. But why is it Homeland Security? Security infrastructure mission creep and continual widening of the definition of terrorism is a real threat.

To everyone who wishes they could vote for Senator Wyden: You can easily contribute to his campaign, as I did last fall when I became very impressed with his courage.

Step 1: Raise money for Obama from East Texas IP trolls.
Step 2: Be appointed USTR ambassador by Obama.
Step 3: Pass ACTA/TPP etc. (No need for ??? here)
Step 4: Profit!
I'm pretty sure Chris Dodd will be fired without Jimmy Wales' help. After all, Dodd failed to deliver to his masters what he promised he would get. The firing will happen later this year after all the hubbub.

The Republicans have the banks, oil companies, manufacturing, retail and just about every other large sector vying with each other to corrupt them. The Democrats have just two, tech and Hollywood, and they're so stupid they get them both pissed off at them!
