Re: First, note that they're charged with ACTIONS, not just view
Twitter is acting as censor in UN-American way and needs to be taken apart until NONE of The Public is subject to its arbitrary corporatism.
Erm, which member of The Public is subject to its arbitrary corporatism? I'm not. I can choose between going on Twitter and posting within its rules (don't be a jerk) or not going on Twitter and doing something else instead.
Whether you're in a shop buying something or just walking down the street there are rules that apply to everyone. If you're in a shop or in the street and behave obnoxiously sooner or later you'll be removed for the obnoxious behaviour.
Your comments are hidden here (I click the Report button on them) because you're obnoxious. Now stop whining.
The most powerful players in the military-surveillance-prison-industrial complex. Think about it, if the shenanigans were to stop tomorrow and we went all kum-ba-yah with each other, who would buy guns and bullets, etc.?
Keeping this crap under wraps ensures the continual flow of filthy lucre.
There's such a mad moral panic about it and there's a lot of money to be made from people stupid enough to think of copyright as a fountain flowing deep and wide. If we thought of copyright in the way the Framers of the Constitution did, we wouldn't have copyright trolls.
The lawsuits were filed and won due to the band caving in over the mounting litigation costs. I'm sure our resident trolls will be in any minute now to declare this an anomaly, along with the thousands of other anomalies TD has reported on.
It's a video, AAC. By this metric you should never watch any TV show or movie if the hero behaves badly in it. What, do you really believe that Ashcroft advocates for shoving people out of the way as you walk down the street? Don't be silly.
We're there now on the partisan hackery level, where people on the right are describing the Constitution as the con-stitution.
And before you go all "But Obama!" on me, he's a neocon and is BFFs with his predecessor Dubya.
The only way to win is to refuse to play the partisan game and get involved in activism. You want to promote and assist with the election campaigns of anyone pushing for our rights, whatever party they are in. That's how you effect change. It's actually how Obama won the first time; he had dedicated followers who promoted him and worked for his campaign. Do that, and get your guy (or girl) in.
That's the problem. They're unwilling to fight dirty and sometimes you've just got to. Were it up to me I'd call McConnell out for refusing to act in the interests of the American people. They're not even trying to pressure him.
Shiva claimed to have invented email. He didn't. He created a program to send messages electronically but that kind of thing had already been around for a while. Email as we use it today had nothing to do with him.
As for creating the intenet, go and look it up. You won't find his name there.

A nuisance lawsuit.
Most Americans would phrase it as “Shiva the Destroyer Put His Boot Up Their Ass”, sideways.

Punishment. It means loss of money, reputation, loss of credibility, loss of face, being driven to beg for money, online, in front of people who think you deserve punishment, and are laughing as you grovel.
TD only lost money to a liar. Its reputation, credibility, and face are intact, otherwise it wouldn't have the support it still enjoys. That £20 I was planning to put in just became £50.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Shiva Proved Techdirt Can Be Punished
If "punishment" means "put a link to another website on old stories, and don't pay out any money to the plaintiff," then TD has been well and truly spanked.
