The way this is being handled is a strategy. Trying to get all the pieces together in one fell swoop is quite unlikely in the current congress. Starting with doing something that binds the DOJ will go over well with enough republicans, because Fast and Furious and Benghazi, that it's an easy lift. It's a good strategy, putting several different amendments into several different laws that add up to getting the desired effect. It has the added bonus of being damn difficult to get rid of, even with a hostile administration.

    Scott Turow

I was just getting around to reading one of his books when he started this BS. I like knowing which authors aren't worth my time before I waste trying to read their drivel.

I still remember the old Defazio commercials on KVAL with him driving around Eugene in that ugly old Dodge Dart. I wish I hadn't been a Republican at the time, I might have appreciated him a lot more. Fortunately George Bush showed me the error of my ways.

There is no such thing as excessive free speech. Even those hideously ignorant protesters should have the freedom to do what they do as long as they don't hurt anybody. As far as the rest of the world, the inability to complain has led to religions thinking they can run governments by making it illegal for anyone to complain about any religion. Nobody ever said that free speech was absolutely free, you still have to endure the judgement of others as to whether your speech is appropriate. However, that should not give anyone the license to curb speech before it is spoken on the off chance that said speech may be inappropriate
