    Another Avenue

So I am not sure what the right answer is here. Yes NASCAR did abuse the DMCA notice, however should there be a way for them to delay the posting of such videos out of respect for the injured and their families? In the on air broadcast they limited their replays to one angle from far away, not showing any of the debris that went into the stands. I am an avid NASCAR fan and they usually have many replay from many angles, so I would not doubt that they would have more footage, especially at the start finish line.

This particular video does not show much in the way of the people injured. There was another video posted that said - "Fan Killed in NASCAR Crash" that had a DMCA notice immediately following the crash - I did not see the video just the notice.

So the DMCA notice was bogus by NASCAR but should there not be an avenue for them to at least have a delay period before such videos are posted?

We recently had a teacher at my school post a number of videos in which it was clear to anyone who knew him that there was some type of break - he was clearly not himself. I worked with his wife to have the videos removed, there was an option to remove the video because it was harmful to others. She was just trying to stop all the negative attention she was getting because obviously he needed help.

    Just another reason

I am glad the EFF is doing this campaign, yet I am doubtful it will really do any good. It is just another reason I left PayPal. Although I am mildly inconvenienced at times, I have survived this decision.

    American Horror Story

So I downloaded the AHS because I heard good reviews and I generally like FX shows but between them and Comcast there is at least 1+ week delay in seeing something that has already been broadcast. Part of the reason I stopped watching Wilfred was because I could not get it on demand, but maybe it was not that good so I didn't look for it. So now I am up to date with AHS and can/will watch it with commercials should I be home - bit if not I will download it again w/o any commercials - It is this backward thinking that really limits some companies.

    Went through similar with comcast

My wife is from Canada and I from the US. One of the things we had to do to get her green card to come to the US is prove we have a relationship and that we did not just get married, apparently there is a lot of marriage fraud. One easy way to do this is to show phone records at the interview to get a green card. So for two years prior to getting married we were constantly on the phone for hours at a time - plus it was on my dime since I had unlimited calling and she did not. I called Comcast to get my calling records thirty days before the interview. They told me the same thing I needed a lawyer to request the records. I did not see why as they were my records about my calls. I told them if the Govt. called asking about me I am sure they would give them every bit of info about me. Growing up we always got an itemized bill because my parents would always question each other or me if there was a strange number on the bill. After much fighting and losing my mind I finally got connected to a person in Mass. who told me she would get me the records in a week. Two weeks no records. I called again and was moved into the escalated call center - initially thinking this would resolve my issue only to find out later this is where they send irate and unmanageable customers. I admit I did lose my mind after being polite for weeks.

The records never arrived before the interview date. We were stressed. If you have never been in a situation like this each time crossing the border is a crap shoot. They can suddenly decide to not let my wife in if they think, key word Think, she will not return to Canada.

All went well at the interview and she has here green card. Two weeks after the interview the records arrive. NOT the records of all the phone calls I made - but a copy of my bills from Comcast for the past two years.

The other sad part about this is I can't switch to another carrier because there isn't a comparable one in the area. No competition.

    Getting the facts straight

So maybe someone who know the facts should post a video about the facts of s.978 - guiding people how to speak out.

    Star Trek

There would have been a vacuum of Star Trek without its quotes from Shakespeare:

    http://www.wsu.edu/~delahoyd/shakespeare/star.trek.html

Whether you like Trek or not, the quotes connected the series to real life and quite often were a way to bring deeper meaning to the storyline.

So would the original Star Trek, a short 2 year series - that continues to be reinvented, still have the cult following without these references had copyright been claimed as in the case above?

    Photo Angle

I would have liked to see the photo taken from a car to get a more realistic angle. I received a ticket for making a right on red. From my truck I could not see the sign which was posted in a different place than normal. I took a photo from my truck at the place showing that the sign was there but I could not see it...

    NASCAR

I like NASCAR - Their website provides up to the minute stats during a race...They also provide additional services, like the scanner which I pay for, because I can listen to the drivers and officials during a race...That is something I can only get if I am at a race or through the NASCAR website...Now I am addicted because it is such a different experience listening to the race with all the behind the scenes chatter while I am watching the race.

    Re: (as Doug)

Having been a user and an IT person I think I can understand both sides of the coin. Was it ever explained to the users why it was a problem using itunes and other bandwidth intensive apps? and can't the IT dept. track and see who it is doing that and speak to them directly to solve the problem. There has to be some other solution or compromise that can be worked out...
