When growing up were Haynes and Chiltons. Haynes doesn't even offer a manual for my C7. So there are other casualties in associated industries as well.
It makes it so much easier for several interested parties.
1) Every transfer automatically has sales tax added - both from the "sellers" location and the "buyers" location, thus doubling tax revenue for states.
2) Every sellers transaction is automatically tracked for the new year-end 1099 reporting requirements. Thus increasing IRS revenue. Up to the seller to find receipts for every transaction to prove the actual profit/loss.
Turning everyone into a business in the eyes of the government for increased tax regulation and auditing data. Allowing instant seizure of any funds whose source can not be tracked.
So we get tax wins for states, tax win for IRS, and tons of work for CPAs. What's not to love?
The same way you addressed it. After all, you did put new rules in place to prevent members from posting threatening videos against other members, right? You jumped right on that, didn't you?
Since they want copyright to last forever and pay heirs for generations to come, seems right that they would setup a fine to be paid by generations to come...

These businesses make up whatever fees they want to increase their bottom line.
The government regulates these businesses and enables and allows them to charge whatever they want to increase their stock value and returns for their investors.
Social Security Trust Funds invest heavily in these industries, and rely on them making an excessive rate of return and dividends paying high interest.
There is ZERO chance of this circle jerk being resolved in the consumers favor.

I am far less afraid of the "bad guys" than I am of the "good guys" in the government.
This has entertainment potential all over it...
