Amazing how they're labeling supporters of Net Neutrality as racist and/or unhinged. I know exactly 1 conservative who supports Net Neutrality.

    Re:

Kinda wondering if you can really intercept content from Netflix if you have a rooted phone/bootloader unlocked. Are their fears of being able to intercept DRM content true with rooted devices? Also good point about getting your content elsewhere, there are so many pirate streaming sites online. I remember how the MPAA tried to shut down that streaming subreddit on reddit, that was pretty hilarious. What better way to get people to purchase your content than attack them with legal threats because they can't get your content legally either because of where they live not having proper infrastructure and/or not being able to afford it. Many people in remote parts of the world on /r/siliconvalleyHBO express frustration that they can't actually purchase the content legally until it comes out on DVD, and in thus they can't watch new episodes until months later.

Microsoft kowtowed to governments by creating backdoors in their software, they have no one to blame but, themselves and their own crappy software. It just shows that consumers don't know the difference between a crappy product and a superior one, when the crappy one beats the superior one to market. It's also shameful how we have this illegitimate billionaire Gates who stole other people's ideas and marketed it as his own. It's hilarious though that both Jobs and Gatzs said the: "Pirates of Silicon Valley" movie was accurate.

Pretty crazy... a lawsuit over a .99 cent app? I can't imagine that many people buying these apps.

    So..

    50 * .99 = $49.5

    100 * .99 = $100.99

    500 * .99 = $495.99

The creators don't even get that total do they? you have to pay taxes + fees to the App Store or whatever too right?

I can't imagine developing these applications being very lucrative compared to full blown applications.

Re: Re: Facebook, Google changed the election == BS

Theres no conspiracy here. TIME Magazine and 60 Minutes interviewed the people in X-Soviet Countries (US along the border with Russia) and some media companies in the US and how they created fake news because it would generate increased traffic to their website and enable profiteering off of advertisements and traffic. There's no conspiracy that people were misinformed by these fake news sites and it enabled Trump to get elected because of the massive mistrust in the establishment media in the US. People found a way to fill that void, along with it being profitable to fake news organizations. Google and Facebook noticed this and did nothing because it was profitable, its their fault as much as it is people who're responsible for informing themselves with news that is accurately sourced.

AT&T hasn't caused an election to be shifted because of the availability and volume of fake news on facebook and google search results. I hate AT&T as much as the next nerd here but, I also realize Donald Trump is most likely the president because of how little Google and Facebook care about the quality of their products vs the ability to profit off of those products.

Does anyone seriously have a problem with this? Apple and other companies have screwed the USG and other governments out of millions, if not billions of dollars. As much as I like HRC's policy of an exit tax, I doubt she would ever implement it, nonetheless promptly.

Not the most frustrating part being these companies have made the auto skip feature even more useless than it already was. I have DISH and it activates only on random content and/or content that the user hasn't watched for x amount of weeks. DISH though has decided to make premium(ABC, TBS, Fxx, SyFy, Comedy Central, Hallmark, etc) and standard channels now though I.e. The difference between 60 and 200 dollars a month (not even including pay per view content). As such I've been working on a homemade DVR and steaming to my raspberry pi's. I plan to leave dish in a few weeks.

    Re:

Welcome to America! Corporations don't even have to have accountability as far as paying taxes, take a look at the Panama Papers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Papers
As far as Google giving anyone who has any type of copyright, trademark, etc over an entity irregardless of date, they determine what constitutes fair use, what is not copyrighted, etc. Try uploading something that no longer has a copyright to youtube and see what happens, guaranteed if there is a later work; your video will be taken down and/or the company claiming the copyright will be able to monetize your work.

    Re:

If they're this worried about having their spoilers censored, I don't understand why they just don't post them on I2P and/or TOR like everyone else. It seems like we're headed in that direction anyway, especially if Hillary Clinton gets elected and she builds her "Manhattan Project to undermine encryption", the fifth amendment is already dead in the sense that US law enforcement either local, state, or federal can imprison you for not giving them encryption keys. Imagine when encryption is truly undermined by what HRC has hinted at hoping to accomplish.

Wow this is hilarious. Copyright == perpetual extension until the end of time in the US and now it means you've created and/or invented something too. Don't quite understand why Chomsky is defending this guy, I have a lot of respect for the guy but wow lol.

Re: Re: Bernie is willing to cross the line when he wants.

I don't think its a very positive change to look for the personal characteristics of a president rather than their achievements regarding the improvement of the US. I don't think we should celebrate playing your race, gender, etc to get elected. This is not an accomplishment lol.

    Re: Re:

In my experience of working with the campaign. Bernie tends to let his lawyers do whatever they feel is appropriate up until Bernie and his team reviews it. Much like earlier in the year allowing supporters to use the Bernie logo without paying for it. I think its a bit of an overreaction to issue this type of response without an official response from the campaign i.e. from Jeff Weaver.

    Re: Re:

During an election I don't think this holds true. For example, I don't like Trump but, I remember earlier in the year a prose of him dressed like Hitler being spray painted in NYC and the NYPD looking for the perpetrator to file charges.

    Re: Re:

Yes.. Because every person running has the record Bernie Sanders has *Sarcasm*. Not only being right about which being right about the ramifications of our bought and paid for political system but, being part of the Civil Rights movement, voting against the war in Iraq, voting for veterans, standing with unions and workers not corporation and corporate greed, etc. I did not praise Hillary Clinton in my past comment. I personally think she is a sociopathic liar who as Cornell West put it is "a puppet of Wall St.". Let's hope that Trump vs Hillary does not become our general election matchup. I don't see much of a difference between a Wall St. Puppet and a Wall St. Insider.

Hope hell is real for MS

I can't think of anything more ironic of a company that claims it has 'original' intellectual property and ideas when the software was stolen from Xerox and re'd. A company that uses stolen software is bullying people who pirate things, pretty hypocritical. I now realize swapping all my computers over to varying versions of linux was the best decision I could've made. To the windows 10 users that got a 'free upgrade', enjoy having a camera shoved up your 'whereever' in the words of Donald Trump. I hope self incrimination is enough to convince you people using software like MS' is a bad move not only because free software is less complicated, more efficient, and designed better but, because free software doesn't spy on you and pretend that some settings disable privacy invading features when they in fact do not. I seriously hope hell is real for companies as awful as ms and their crap software and it is swallowed into a fiery abyss.

I'm part of a local tech group and we actually host a small time podcast and we used songs from the Library of Congress and Archive.org and are currently engaged in copyright pingpong. I and my co-host discussed our opinion of copyright, trademarks, patents, etc. I argue though that copyright is counterintuitive to human culture. We couldn't believe that Youtube and Soundcloud allows the censorship of public domain intros irregardless of whether you're a non-profit educational group or are attempting to use the fair-use statute. Link below. I was apprehensive and so was my life long friend Josh in starting this non-profit tech group but, the challenges of putting this stuff online is immense when you have such extreme copyright enforcement online.
