If the website's menu is "substantially similar" to CABLP's menu is Mr. Carulli claiming that a reasonable person would believe that the actual Cinnamon Toast Crunch is, in fact, named after a stripper Criss banged in the 90's?
Politicians always screaming Amazon is a monopoly, but the house version is supported by Amazon exactly because this is the type of thing Amazon can afford to do, while a small e-retailer will go nuts in trying to implement it. This is state sales tax part deux.
I guess with everything that goes into lying to regulators about the Sprint takeover, T-Mobile forgot to secure its customers' data. Slipped their mind.
FB & Google charge me no more than they did 5 years ago (which is to say, nothing). But the muttonheads in Congress (both parties) want to breakup "big tech" and ignore the real thieves at Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, etc.
Telecom should pay big tech for its content, just like their cable arms pay Disney for its content. Then the the telecoms would be free to slap consumers with beaucoup fees while misrepresenting their advertised rates. So it's a win-win (not so much for the consumers, but screw those guys).
One could argue that Google & Facebook drive a lot of traffic to news sites. Google should just omit News corp. websites from search results and watch Rupert's website traffic dwindle.
Show of hands if Congress should make real, honest-to-god monopolies, with demonstrable harm to consumers, like Comcast and AT&T, common carriers instead of social media
Since AT&T's "pipes" are worthless without content, just for fun, maybe Google or Amazon blocks AT&T users for a couple of weeks, and let AT&T deal with the fallout from angry customers.
True, content providers (Google, Steam...) create demand for broadband. Arguably, Google could insist adoption of the broadcast model. Comcast pays tv producers $billions for content delivered over NBC & affiliates.
Google has never charged me a cent, but monopolies like Comcast have demonstrably harmed consumers, yet never a word about putting the smackdown on those assholes.
They'd find all kinds of monopolies that harm consumers and reduce competition.
Instead of getting a case of the vapours over Twitter & FB, be nice if the folks in charge would unwind Comcast's monopolies to end the constant rate hikes, lousy speeds, & crappy support.
Where's the smart money going on which U.S. company gets hammered when Xi retaliates? And how many crazy ass tweets will Trump pump out complaining it's so unfair?
FL is Goofy
Rep. Eskamani missed a layup by not asking if Disney-owned ABC News was exempt.

Gotta admit, Carulli makes a valid point.

/div>AT&T is looking at this all wrong

/div>but let's ignore the real criminals
Without reading all the mumbo jumbo, is there anything in the bills that addresses the real high tech monopolies that demonstrably harm consumers?
I'm looking at you Comcast.

/div>Re: broadband
Funny, no senator seems to have an issue with real monopolies like Comcast.
/div>AT&T is a pantload
Perhaps the U.S. broadband standard should be speeds must be faster than Croatia's.
/div>Re: Evidence
So funny when the people always screaming "socialism BAD" get their panties in a knot when a private enterprise chooses to enforce its own ToS.
/div>Miss Lindsey gets the blues
Does Sen. Graham have any thoughts about his party's candidates spreading QAnon nonsense and his mancrush Trump impliciting endorsing QAnon?
