    Re: Re: Credibility

I'd have to agree with both of you. Given the reported sighting of her moving around comfortably by a different school official I'd say it's likely that the injuries were being played up. The picture looks to me like it could easily fit the principle's side of the story. Her expression looks to me less like a gasp, as the story's caption says, and more like someone in the midst of an angry rant.

Aside from that, though, we would need to see the comments that were being made on the photo. I thought Mike's question as to who was being bullied was slightly odd as well since the quote from the article specifically states that it was the girl who they felt was being bullied. If you read the article, there's also a quote that says:

Just after he allegedly pushed back 15-year-old Ashley Johnson to separate her, the photo was snapped by a cellphone and uploaded to Facebook, where Whitmire says racist and derogatory comments followed.

If the comments on the photo really were racist and derogatory toward the girl, they would almost certainly qualify as "cyberbullying". Whether or not students should be free to say these things on a social network outside of school and be punished for it in school is another question entirely but I think it's fairly clear who the bullying was supposedly directed toward. Without seeing the comments themselves, it's difficult to say for sure if they really were trying to protect the student from bullying or the principle from embarrassment but I don't think there was any clear-cut censorship given the information provided.

Only one thing holding me back...

I kind of want to know which option (the digital download or the DVD) has a better profit margin so I can support them as much as possible!

    Re: Interviews--Value Added.

I'm inclined to agree, for the most part. I, like many others, spend more of my time on this site reading the stories than I even care to admit. Unfortunately (or not, depending on how you look at it), so many stories get posted, if I get busy with silly things that get in the way (like work) then I tend to miss a lot. Or I'll stay off for a few days and be way behind. Nevermind the comments, which should be (and the TD faithful would insist almost NEED to be) almost as important as the posts themselves. I occasionally have time to read them on an article I find REALLY interesting but most times I'm forced to skip them entirely to save time.

For those reasons, a 'week-in-review' type format would be nice. For those that don't think that adds enough value to the text format, I'd love to see it be a live podcast with a chat room or something along those lines to keep an active conversation going with the TD community. That would be amazing and something I'd probably even pay to be a part of.

Beyond that, I think that interviews are a must-have. They're something that are very hard to fit into a text-based post and, as Scote suggested, it would be easy to edit a longer interview down and release the full, unedited version separately. That's how many talk shows manage to fit into their time slot while still getting really great interviews, so why not for TD?

    Maybe they've developed a conscience...

And decided to give Sonic.net's gigabit service a push by garnering "anti-establishment" sentiment. Forcing customers to move to a provider with better service at lower prices and which actually cares about its customers is kind of like promoting healthy competition, right?
