It's just a matter of time before the tire companies start suing each other over "trademarked" tread patterns. I wish judges would see these ridiculous lawsuits for what they are and fine the companies who do it. Time for some common sense in our judicial system.

    It's about time

I'm hoping the RIAA is next. When my friend has to pay those scumbags just so she can play cds in her salon it's gone too far. What would happen if every place that played music just told them no? It would be awesome.

It is a sad thing indeed when the lawyers have now essentially become the mafia of this generation. They roam the land threatening people for posting a picture of a public person on their website. If I had been the recipient of such a form letter I believe returning it with a big "F*CK YOU" scrawled across said letter would be appropriate. Shame on the system for allowing these things to happen and shame on us for letting things get to this point. Is there no more common sense left?

In my opinion, this rush for hydrogen fuels is a lost cause. There is a virtually limitless supply of energy under our feet called geothermal. Unfortunately the coal companies have a virtual stranglehold on energy production and permitting for geothermal plants can take 3-6 years for approval. Places like Iceland generate 100% of their energy this way, and though the US is the largest producer of geothermal energy, the overall percentage generated vs coal or nuclear is quite small.

Seems to me that scientists used to research and invent for the betterment of mankind, not a get rich quick scheme. But everyone knows there are very few independent scientists these days, everyone works for a company. And the company model is there is no money in the cure, but the treatment of the disease.

For the moment, everyone is getting up in arms over nothing. 3d printers use a resin which for the moment, is good for pretty little objects and rapid prototyping. The largest 3d printer can make an object roughly 24" x 24" and those are prohibitively expensive. In fact a Medium model which prints objects 10" square runs $25k. So Joe Blow on the street isn't going to just wander into the local Best Buy and purchase one like he would a dvd burner. In 20-30 years we may get "replicators" of some sort, but for the most part, we are a long way off from "printing" durable goods or electronics.

I think it's all a crock. If I was the judge I would toss it out. Once it's purchased, the guy should be able to do what he wants to it, regardless of what the almighty Microsoft says. Do you think Ford is going to care if you swap motors or slap a turbo on a car that you bought from them? Nope. They might as well say that you paid $300 for it, but you're just renting it. They might as well put sensors on it to alert the Xbox police if you crack the case.
