  My wife needed SPSS for a statistics class. It's like a $200 program but she found on their site (not sure if this was before IBM acquired them) where she could lease it for 6 months for $30. Pretty cool but if they're leasing it for 6 months, what's the difference in that and the full license, except for term of license, in light of the court decision?

  But if you already own a license for the older version, shouldn't it be legal to purchase replacement media second-hand? I wonder how claiming, "I am not selling the license, I am selling replacement media" would hold up?

  And if that is so, wouldn't that include free technical support/phone support as well? I suppose that depends on the wording of the license but if I'm paying thousands of dollars for a piece of software, why should I have to pay extra for support if I'm just "licensing" it?
