  Easiest way to look at it from left to right 3x2 add 2 zeros 2x6 add one zero 4x3 add one zero then 6x4 and then add each of them. The main benefit to left to right method is to promote better number sense in a faster manner, so that our children can advance mathematically beyond our past failures. We read left to right only makes sense to do math left to right. However a lot of public schools are still teaching kids to do it right to left. I'm trying to teach my daughter both ways.
