So there's lots of smoke and the smell of something burning all through these comments, along with tp's random silliness. But no where is there any analysis of the ruling the court made, which is really what needs to happen here before anyone can comment intelligently on the reasons why the ruling came out like this.
I wish I read any other languages so I could help, but I don't so I can't.
Starlink would also be a possibly decent alternative for small, distant towns without good infrastructure. A caching proxy, local wifi, and you might have something. At least it would be better than nothing.
Yes, pulling fibre everywhere is the long term answer... but in the short term this will probably help.
I thought the copyright belonged to the person or entity who made the recording. In this case, was King in a public space when he made this speech? Was the recording done by a news organization? How did the copyright end up in his estate? Sure, the copyright on his speech might be his, but in this case, the film is adding more ontop of that, which is (should?) be transformative and worth a new copyright./div>
My solution to most football games (and even futball!) is to just record the damn thing on my Tivo, go away for an hour or so and then watch the game.
Snap the ball, watch the play til it ends, hit the button to skip 30 seconds and bam! they're snapping the ball again. Cuts out all the crap. And if I miss something, back it up 6 seconds and I'm all set.
Commercials come on, skip skip skip, and I'm back in the game. Simply awesome!
Want to watch a play over and over again? In slow-mo? Pause the game to go get some food? Need a bathroom break? Need to put a kid to bed? Pause it! It will be there when you come back!
I don't care about the realtime games too much.
And even for the superbowl, I'll probably just skip most of the ads even though they're supposed to be interesting and fun. Why can't they be interesting and fun all year long? Would be alot cheaper to produce for sure.../div>
I suspect that Germany will do all they can to keep Turkey happy, without actually *doing* anything to this guy. Some sort of suspended sentence, community service, etc.
Ideally the guy will then spend his community service highlighting how horrible Turkey is in alot of ways. So they want to be European, but still have a religious based goverment? Not going to fly./div>
All someone needs to do is start publishing realtime logs of where Politicians phone(s) have been going over the past 30 days for stuff like this to get addressed.
Sorta like how they passed the law about not being able to publish their video tape rental histories either, once they realized that just anyone could see what tape(s) they had been renting.
Once Politicians are the target of something like this, it's amazing how quickly they will work to restrict it./div>
So, I just went and looked at the USCO (United States Copyright Office) web site and I don't see any NOIs for any company. Can you elaborate on where these NOIs are supposed to be found online?/div>
The simplest answer is to just put everyone on the no fly list, because it won't trample anyone's 2nd amendment rights that way. And think of the economic advantages? Amtrak will finally get the funding it needs for better Accela service?
Think of all the new train engines that GE and EMD will have to make to haul the new traffic? Or all the new cars that will be made to handle the increased load!
Think of all the land we'll save from big empty airports than can be used for better purposes, like landfill! Think of how safe the american people will be without all those terrorist bombs-to-be going by overhead! Think of all the noise pollution saved from those darn airplanes taking off over my house that I just moved into two years ago. How dare they have a 50 year old airport fly over my house!
Think of finally getting Peter Pan and Greyhound back into competition, the prices will drop, bus travel will be glorious again!/div>
You know why this was filed by some lawyer. They got paid either way, and they're paid to be "safe". If they didn't, and then they had a (perceived) problem down the road, they would be prejudiced because they didn't file when they coulda shoulda woulda done so.
The laywer who did this doesn't get less money for doing this, and might even get more, because now they got to bill for all those extra hours of confidential negotiation. Esp if they're an outside law firm.
Sad to say the least.
Anyway, I'm not sure how you can dilute Natty Lite any more and not have plain water anyway./div>
