    Re:

Photovoltaic generates the most electricity at the peak use times, Power Co.'s save a lot by not having to kick in 'peakers' (often petroleum-fed jet engine generators, or hours-lead-time coal plants) OR NOT BUILD THEM.

California, looking ahead in the early 1990's, completed a study concluding that if every electric car was plugged in when parked, the mass of batteries would preclude the need to build any more grid steam generator plants, nether coal or NG. In a panic, the 'Utility's' stopped that with the 1995 'BlueBook deregulation' shit, costing $40 billion+ tax dollars AND going around the courts to bail out poor Nuke-Plant 'investors'; rich people to big to fail.
Illinois just did the same on December 1st.

Not having a grid connection red-tags a home in many cities; 'No Occupancy allowed'.

50%+ of the US grid power IS LOST IN DELIVORY, thus distributed 'Co-Generation' is very attractive.

P.S. Texas is NOT tied to the National Grid.
P.P.S. Petroleum production requires massive grid electrical power.

Disclaimer; I have not had a back door most of my life, and have lived off-the-grid sometimes for years.

Re: We did write about it critically

My brother's house in the mountains has a donkey-dick cable running up the driveway to the microwave relays up the road, but when the telephone failed for the 20th time, AT&T couldn't find his house 60 feet away.
AT&T pulled 10 low-oxygen copper coax lines out of the ground that run his side of his mailbox in 2003 and put 50 fibers in the ground, but he's only allowed dial-up today.
AT&T offered our local radio station 30 telephone lines on a T-1 ("now just 1 telephone bill!") and stole 25 twisted pairs from us to resell to the neighborhood. For ten years, more than a few simultaneous incoming calls are all almost unintelligible!
Dozens of startups built out every right-of-way in America, pipe lines, rail lines, high-voltage power easements, old DOD cold-war umbilical, every downtown street for new fiber in the late 1990's, went bust and AT&T bought it all for $.01 on the dollar.
I have a bunch of failed glass sticks that would have made a kilometer of variable refractive index. We are swimming in fiber in America.
Ever play Monopoly©? Three people starve and have no place to live.

    Re:

PacBell (AT&T) pulled their in-place fiber OUT of the street in front of the meetinghouse here on Normandie(SIC) in Southcentral(SIC) in 1998, damn if they were going to share the last mile because of 'deregulation' changes of the 1934 Communications Act.

In May 2000 I sent a $200 cashiers check to a 3ed tier provider, five different techs dropped the load resisters off the PacBell POT's line to the CO, but after 6 weeks the check was mailed back, no can do.

Then, when i(SIC) bought from GTE, in 2001 they pulled out of Southcentral(SIC). I called a CPUC commissioner the day after Christmas and he answered his own telephone, giving me the chance to force a Public Hearing.
    GTE told 50 customer-victims 'thank-you-for-sharing' and left.
I than bought 5 phone lines from Alliance (now XO), their minimum at the time.

Aliance was still billing me for the 21 POT's, a T1 and two ISDN pairs we had used for FIVE DAYS (i had removed their cable from the stairwell by that Sunday) near the Democratic Convention. 13 months ($17,000) after, their bill went to $0. I guess phantom receivables helped on Wallstreet(SIC).

Re: Re: Put Bars on the School

Actually, five years ago, 'LAPD School Police' locked down Manual Arts H.S. (1,300 children) http://www.mahs.org/ three blocks from here by locking each and every classroom up with the teacher, telling them nothing, and busing one class at a time to the LA Sports Arena during the rest of the day. Unbelievably; no LAPD helicopter was involved!

Kids were shiting in the class trashcans.
The 'reason' was that a 'gun' may have been 'seen' by someone.
(My wife and i found a black nylon 'Tactical' back-up holster lying on the yellow line on Normandie Ave. while this unfolded. I tacked it on the church bulletin board for months, but it was never claimed)
Those kids who gave their parents phone number were picked up eventually by a 'parent' who could 'prove' custody, many late into the early morning since many parents hold multiple jobs and are 'illegals'.
This warranted a single paragraph in the Los Angeles Times that week.
A California child is State owned UNLESS he/she has been awarded to someone by a Superior Court judge. This was told to us by the County Sheriff when i was on the Acton Town Council, and is why California educates ALL it's children.

When the web that we weave is complete (as OGquaker)

After the destruction all the English family farms & exporting the food of Ireland at the point of a gun, a newfangled 'Job' was the only way anyone could eat. Then 'improved' machines forced 'labor' into penury. Parliament wrote a new law overnight, and 25 Luddites were executed by hanging.
    See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Job

    SONG FOR THE LUDDITES

    By Lord Byron December 24, 1816 ( First published 1830 )

    1. As the liberty lads o'er the sea

Bought their freedom, and cheaply, with blood,

    So we, boys, we

Will die fighting, or live free,

And down with all kings but King Ludd !

    2. When the web that we weave is complete,

And the shuttle exchanged for the sword,

We will fling the winding sheet

O'er the despot at our feet,

And dye it deep in the gore he has poured.

    3. Though black as his heart its hue,

Since his veins are corrupted to mud,

    Yet this is the dew

    Which the tree shall renew

Of Liberty, planted by Ludd !

    ageing out

I applied to the US Army Chaplin's program at 49, the oldest age allowed unless you're Catholic. Go figure.

Hollywood's 'Assistant Director' program tops out at 39.
The United Nations has a mandatory retirement age of 65,
US airline pilots are still fighting mandatory retirement at 60.

My father got a 'Job' at Northrup's research center when he was 63... Northrup 'laid him off' when he turned 81.

Eilene Galloway, the woman that invented N.A.S.A. was still giving lectures on the peaceful use of space at 99 years old.

Henry Kissinger wrote the book 'Nuclear Weapons and Foreign Policy' in 1957 and is still the go-to man for who needs killing. like Dracula & Vlad the Impaler, Kissinger's immortal.

Re: Sharing the real money now

I hired into LucasFilm in October, 1975 for $5.oo/hour, did my last job for him in late 1983. Do I share the wealth of the product we all created for George?
Yes, I get $460 in Social Security each month, representing my cut from those years.
'Sharing' is a four letter word in 'The Industry', which hides it's pauper 'Stars' to die in the 'Motion Picture & Television Country House'.
My total 'take-home' now (including 600/month from a short USArmy career) is larger now than from any film, aerospace, food, optical, nursing or sales 'Job' I ever had.
A lot of my co-workers got caught in an endless loop of coke&meth. See 'The Book Of Job'
By 1981 I had built my own film studio & paid a lot of employees to shoot movie 'inserts' and TV ads for Leo Burnett, et al.
Most ads never see the light of day, but Leo gets paid.

Mr. AboveTheLaw; you signed (as OGquaker)

A 1880's 'civics' book around here says the 5th amendment to the Federal Constitution is about protecting each and every one of us from legal charges that would "destroy our standing in the community" (charges that forever prevent a person from receiving section 8 housing & food stamps, federal aid for education, a lifetime "Meagon's" listing for pandering?).
With the Federal courts (and many Superior courts in 'drug' and 'sex' 'crimes') moving from 50% trials in the late 1960's to 98% plea bargains after 2000, our 5th has been lost. I have confronted dozens of 'lawyers' over the years, only one REMEMBERED the 5th as protecting us (with a bevy of citizens) from overzealous cops and DA's scoring #points for Law&Order.
Chief Justice Marshall, Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III and Jim Crow are legally dead.

BUT, as an ex enlisted (sworn contract) member of the U.S. Army, almost none of my civilian 'rights' survived WHILE I WAS UNDER CONTRACT.
MoonBeam is correct here; no secret juries for "Sworn Peace Officers"
