Luckily for me most of what i work on is compatibility layers and software controllers (drivers) so starting from scratch on my work isn’t make or break.
As opposed to porting someone else’s work to a new platform. I prefer my work be released unrestricted. I can’t do that by starting with someone else’s work under most of the copyleft licenses.
Hence my stance on the free as in freedom claim.
As you are restricted from placing less restrictions on derivative work.
I can’t say what BB has done in the last year or so.
With the KS pipe shut down and the boarder ignored I have no reason to read them. They’re too pro-god-people for my general taste.
They were quite good about corrections in the past.
Well, I’d say it’s been a very long time since politicians, national anyway, used newspapers as official government distribution of information.
Billboard? When and where?
Official news broadcasts (TV/RADIO/.GOV web sites) are usually live at first. So that doesn’t really count.
My point being, wtf are they doing using non-government tools for government communication in the first place?
Somehow supporting secure borders and levelling international trade (and right to keep a firearm) became Trump worship? Despite those ideas predating trump by, human history?
as a centrist European I'd have to call BS on that
On various four point tests I strongly fall left libertarian
How far left or down depends on the questions asked. But always left libertarian.
The only place I fall into line with Republicans is the topic of defence.
And there only partially.
Once again it false or inaccurate terminology I have a problem with more than anything.
Parading “free as in freedom” for licensing that doesn’t offer complete freedom… bugs me.
Though that’s not my point. I was trying to understand the relationship between A and B.
Now o do.
Thanks for explaining.
But as far as my claim “ and your claim that DVD didn't affect sales is laughable”
There’s more than just a new format at play here. It’s what Hollywood chose to support. Again, DVHS/Dtheatre was vastly superior in playback quality, and cost less to produce for distribution.
When you couldn’t get the latest film you wanted on vhs you bit the bullet so to speak. Buy a DVD player and start the transition.
It’s ultimately distributors that will chose where the industry goes.
Thing is, as I said, it’s rather rare to find a longer-term location with zero possibility of changing cable or internet options through some method.
I also find it ironic you’d Focus on “ If he wants complete control, all he has to do is not open up accommodation to the public” here but throw opposing opinions out the window on social media.
To the majority of that reply: no.
But for a ver specific reason.
Only social media puts the communication at the direct control of someone other than the communicator.
Maybe. You’re more cryptic than direct.
So, their concern is someone may develop something beyond the base and not also open source it?
I can not say I agree or even understand the logic of such a stance on something you put out for free, but since that control-the-derivative mentality is baked into so many “free” open source licensors I don’t deny it is a large population.
Guess I just call the claim of ‘free as in freedom’ as bull. Freedom is public domain, at worst. IDGAF at best.
It’s my mindset. I don’t care what you do.
That is, paradoxically, by releasing the code totally free, you pretty much guarantee that it won't remain so, at least under the current copyright system.
My question was I regard to that statement.
Is I’ve said multiple times I don’t completely agree with, personally, the same philosophical ideals as the various open source advocates.
That’s a separate thread from how public domain could in any way make the source source code not be free.

And does, or does not, the majority of FOSS licensing require like or reciprocal licensing?
/div>Hint: it does.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Wait…
It’s unfortunate you believe that. I disagree but we all have the right to our own opinions.
I prefer our country secure both the northern and southern borders. And increase naval and cost guard patrols.
I have no problem, personally, with legal immigration and free-but-monitored travel in and through the country

And my absolute abhorrence in that regard is well documented. We are way to involved in other states.

Homosexuality and anal sex were once illegal as well. Mind you. Doesn’t make it right or wrong.
Outside of age of consent, a wholly different topic, the government should just stay out of people’s sex lived.
Funny, that’s what so many myth believers say about homosexuality. Etc.

That’s more accepting: “cottage industry “
As for the NES you may want to Bing nes home brew 2022, or famicom.
Also cottage but consistent. And new releases also sell well on ebay.
