    Two proof positives:
Smart people are quite capable of doing stupid things,
    and
All lawyers should be neutered before they can procreate

    Clapton Crap

Two ancient statements come to mind: Once a putz, always a putz, and Power corrupts.

You are so right that the blaming of the internet for today's problems is ridiculous. Having spent the past few years digging beneath a variety of surfaces to try and understand why we are where are, I have one conclusion: it is as old as the existence of human kind. Fundamentally, people are uncomfortable with people and conditions that are "different". Financial and physical power have supported the implementation of my values rather than yours. It permeates all countries and cultures and as we move into 2022, it will continue to block reasoned change and greater equity for all.

An interesting read, and equally interesting set of responses covering just about every nook and cranny of human existence. While the author's title and opening story involves purchasing a bra, the subject is focused on credibility which she accurately identifies as ethos near the end. Women have been denied credibility by men for eons because they have never moved beyond "they r\are different" from us. Which make me think of the phrase: "No shite Sherlock!" of course they are different. Just as males differ and women differ and racial and ethnic differences exist. When credibility is with-held due to gender, race or whatever, it means the person has forsaken logic and facts (logos) and prefers hysterical emotions (pathos) and that also seems to pretty much describe the state of the world today.

The idea is commendable, the ability to create a "perfect storm" of strident responses is delightful, and it certainly brings out the realization that many of those commenters need more baby powder on their bleeding arses.

Perhaps One Too Many Barristers (as Barry Winters)

Who shall rid us of these vexatious lawyers?

Lifetime Appointments BAD (as Barry Winters)

Outstanding analysis of Thomas' demented views on technology and social media. His contorted view of the world is too frequently ignored because folks don't want to be accused of playing the race card. Reality is the man is out of touch with the current world and seems increasingly confused as to what surrounds him. He should resign and go home.

    ...the Techlash (as Barry Winters)

US culture thrives on pendulums. The middle is static and evil since constant motion is "good". It seems that business theory is based on keeping things moving-the pendulum, rather than accepting a static middle where the pendulum stops and life is "good". That's why I have preached the goal of a Radical Middle for over 50 years! Progress is good, but monetized progress pushed to extremes always results in bad shite.
