The Republican party will be screaming for the US to take action against China while at the same time doing everything they can to limit any voters that will vote against them.
It is not like he is defending them from speeding ticket, these are high dollar cases. You would think his clients would do at least some due diligence before hiring him.
Even a quick search brings up plenty or reasons to rethink any plan on getting involved with him. I kind of find it mind boggling that anyone would hire him.
27 'Right To Repair' Laws Proposed This Year. Crooked politicians accepting Bribes have ensured none have passed so far.
Yes I know that technically most of the money is "campaign contributions" but if it quacks like a duck then...
I have always found it odd that the companies attempting to bribe politicians are made out to be the primary bad guys.
Yes it is sketchy behavior but in my opinion the crooked politicians accepting those bribes and selling out the people that voted them into office is much worse.
While I agree that the FCC gutting regulatory oversight was a bad move I think the bigger problem may be all the bad regulation that is being passed, especially on the state level.
You have state politicians selling out the voters by passing laws that protect the monopolies. This is happening on a pretty wide scale and is keeping many cities and counties from bypassing the horrid internet service that is currently in place.
Without these laws there would be a lot more competition which as we know would bring better pricing and service.
The sad thing is that these state and local politicians are selling out for very little money. In some cases just a couple of thousand dollars. It seems like if you are going to sell the voters down the river you should at least get a substantial amount of money to do so but in many of these cases the politicians are doing it for not much more than pocket change.
Corrupt Govt officials engaging in anti-competitive rent-seeking behavior has been around for thousands of years. Bribing Govt officials for "favors" was probably a thing in the first ever Govt that existed.
Politicians do not care about actually fixing problems.
What they care about is appearing to fix problems and having nice sound bites for their campaigns. Any real solutions are just accidental and not important in any way.
Why all the redactions? Is there a legal reason for having them in a public document?
Section 230 is on borrowed time. Biden in on record as saying he wants to repeal it so it is not like a new administration is going to be any better in this respect.
The only reason it is still a law is the Democrats and Republicans can not agree on how to destroy it.
I doubt there will be an outright repeal though, what will happen is that the law will be gutted to the point that it is worthless leaving the politicians from both parties to claim that they fixed and improved it.
I am not generally in favor of coming up with new laws to solve every problem** but why do the publishers get to make a profit on science that is publicly funded? It really needs to end and if we need a law to make it happen then we need to pass one that will do so.
If the science is publicly funded they should be required to cover those costs before they can make a profit on it.
If I and other tax payers are already having to pay for the research there is no way we should have to pay to see the results. I am having trouble understanding how this ever became a thing since nobody really wins other than the publishers.
** Mostly because new laws never seem to solve the problem they say they are trying to solve. So many passed laws focus on sounding good rather than being effective.
I would think by now any company insuring OTR truckers would require at least dash cams by now.
Also why are cops allowed to turn off their dash cams? I can see that there might be a very limited number of reasons for turning off body cams but I can not think of any reason why they should be allowed to turn off dash cams.
Trump has done more damage to the Republican party in four years than the Democrats have been able to manage in decades.
I never would have thought that the Republicans would have gotten on their knees and kissed King Trumps ass like they have. In fact I would have bet a fair amount against it four years ago.
What I assumed would be an amusing train wreck of a Presidency turned into a scary Fascist dumpster fire. All because the entire Republican party decided to be Trump's bitch.
If Biden and the Democrats somehow manage to pull a loss out of this election every single Democrat in a position of power in the party needs to fall on their sword and let someone else take charge. Every.Single.One.....
It is not like this was done out of the goodness of his heart. He may be a standup guy, I have no idea but any case pushed with this kind of evidence would be a waste of time.
Defense attorneys even public defenders with too large case loads would be all over this "technicality".
The fact the cops are finding new ways to get around laws is just one more reason why fewer and fewer people trust anything they say.
Ten years ago if I heard about someone saying a cop beat him down for no reason I leaned well into believing the cop. And this is from someone who has had a few of those run ins himself.
However today any time I hear a cop speak I assume he is lying. I actually believe cops less than politicians which is saying a lot because I believe politicians very close to zero.
So now the Republicans want to restrict speech to what they approve of. Then the Democrats will get in power and they will be in charge of regulating speech and the Republicans will cry a river. Then the Democrats will do something similar and when the shoe is on the other foot they will be crying in their beer about how the world is so unfair.
Obama "rules with his pen" Democrats rejoice and Republicans scream. Trump does the same and Democrats scream and Republicans rejoice.
Not that this is a new thing but it does seem to be accelerating quite a bit the last few decades.
None of them seem to be able to look more than a couple of years ahead and do not seem to care even a little bit about the constitution. Meanwhile both parties slowly (or maybe not so slowly any longer) kill the constitution and the rule of law in this country as we slide from a Republic to ( take your best guess). Probably a dictatorship of sorts with a veneer of Democracy.
My guess is that both parties are thinking that they will be in charge when the game of musical chairs that is the end of the Republic ends.
The cops are not going to change until society forces them to do so and there are too many people in this country begging to get down on their knees and blow them so not going to happen anytime soon.
However there is still an available fix. Any ems driver who injects someone without a doctor's approval is automatically fired for practicing medicine without a license and loses their certification.
All well and good that qualified immunity is gone but if you have no idea who it is that stomped on your rights or even what agency they work for it is not going to do you any good.
What they need is to take the swat teams off the drug raids and start having them take down the yahoos that Trump sent out.
Or maybe the National Guard. I would like to see the fight that would start between the Governor and Trump.
WTF?

WTF What site am I on?

/div>Well that makes more sense
Meanwhile...
The Republican party will be screaming for the US to take action against China while at the same time doing everything they can to limit any voters that will vote against them.
Hypocrisy at its best

Why do people keep hiring this idiot?
It is not like he is defending them from speeding ticket, these are high dollar cases. You would think his clients would do at least some due diligence before hiring him.
Even a quick search brings up plenty or reasons to rethink any plan on getting involved with him. I kind of find it mind boggling that anyone would hire him.
/div>How about an alternate headline

The mob has been taking tips from the Govt....
/div>Re: what the hell were they even thinking?
They were thinking they were the Govt and they could do what ever the hell they wanted.
Dollars to donuts it never even crossed their mind that a court would question it.
/div>Real fixes do not matter
Politicians do not care about actually fixing problems.
What they care about is appearing to fix problems and having nice sound bites for their campaigns. Any real solutions are just accidental and not important in any way.

/div>Re: Ummm…
You would think so but unfortunately no.
From what I have read it is illegal in most states for officers working jails and prisons to have sex with inmates but not for regular cops.
However even with jailers and prison guards they rarely get more than a slap on the wrist if they get caught.
/div>Good Cop vs Bad Cop
Bottom line is that a cop is not a good cop unless he/she does something about the bad cops.
If you are standing around watching one of your buddies abuse someone and do nothing you are a bad cop.
If you let cops lie about what they did and do nothing you are a bad cop.
The argument that there are only a small percentage of cops that use excessive force, kill, rape, etc etc. is probably true.
However if they are such a small minority why is the majority of supposed good cops not willing to do anything about them.
If 90+% of the cops are good then getting rid of the outliers should be a walk in the park.
If the so called good cops are not willing to fix the bad cop situation then they are bad cops
/div>The Dems should thank Trump
Trump has done more damage to the Republican party in four years than the Democrats have been able to manage in decades.

I was thinking the same thing.
Could the judge tell the DOJ "Sorry but this has nothing to do with the Govt" and make her hire a private lawyer?
/div>While a good move by DA..

" take down content from extremist groups like Antifa"
So being against Fascism is considered extremist?
When did that happen?
I guess I should pay more attention to the news because I did not get that memo
