Mike Parson is a very bad governor who beieves [sic] that his own IT team's very bad coding practices should not be blamed, and instead that he can attack journalists who ethically disclosed the vulnerability as "hackers" rather than take even the slightest bit of responsibility.
This is pure Trump(ism). It's whatever suits him at the moment. A shallow single layer thought process. He can't even think deep enough to realize that he can't have it both ways at once. It's pure luck with zero understanding that he's actually right about one of the ways.
So what happens when your loved one, who had no control over how their health monitor connected and wasn't even aware this was happening, dies because of this? And your garage gets emptied tonight while you're sleeping.
Oh, that's right: "A failure to plan (on your part) does not constitute an emergency (on my part)." It may be that neither company did anything about it until now, but no amount of suing can get your grandma or personal belongings back.
Because remember, it's only censorship when you're being moderated, not when you're doing the moderating.
I'd like to think the selfish fit throwing orange man-child has gained some sort of understanding of section 230, but I have a feeling he had absolutely nothing to do with anything remotely related to those protections in the TOS. He probably just ordered some lackey to "make sure I can't be sued" and went "blah blah blah" when they tried to explain that's what section 230 is for.
It would have been absolutely hilarious if he'd gotten 230 repealed and then had every single one of his social projects afterward get dragged through the mud because of it, if only it wasn't for the MASSIVE collateral damage it would have caused to people who actually get how things work.
Slimy organization responds slimily, attacking its own parent. If it wasn't for good innocent people being influenced by all this crap revolving around the big orange turd, this would be hilarious.
Only 1 year? Maybe they're counting on being exorcised from the games they sabotaged by then anyway, since.. you know.. this colossally unnecessary screw-up probably sped that process up a bit.
Greed ("social media was used and they're rich, so they must pay me!") and ignorance (literally ignoring that these are misguided) makes people including lawyers keep trying this crap.
