Anybody remember the march on the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021? The march in support of an attempted coup? Ramped up by rhetoric from then President Trump? How many law enforcement officers from around the country took part in that march, which ended with their fellow officers being murdered by demonstrators? Well Sheriff West was part of that march supporting the attempted coup. So is there any shred of doubt as to the what kind of department the Canadian County Sherriff's department is? Seems like Canadian County simply puts the criminals in uniform in order to remove the criminals from the street.....
He violated our trust in law enforcement and rights. He belongs in jail. Anyone holding such a position of public trust needs to live up to high standards. He failed, her lied, he violated constitutional rights. He belongs in jail.
Once again an officer of the law demonstrating actions which justify the public's mistrust, antipathy and disgust of officers. Sadly these actions also reflect poorly on the few officers with good intentions.
However laws can be changed to make the registered owner liable for traffic offenses committed in their vehicle. People and companies are already liable for damage that occurs by other drivers operating their vehicles. That's part of why a company like Amazon tries to lessen their liabilities by using contractors, when in reality Amazon is an employer, regardless of this contractor scam they use.
I'll go against the grade here. I'm 100% in support of traffic cams. If people are violating laws meant to protect me and my children on the highways, they should be face consequences. We already know the boys in blue only selectively enforce the law nor are there enough of them to actually enforce traffic safety laws. Plus I simply don't trust even half of them to honestly and fairly enforce anything. If we're not going to enforce these laws, then they should be repealed. Otherwise the registered vehicle owner should be fined and made responsible for policing his own household and whomever he allows into his vehicle.
Exactly, you are not a good cop if you turn a blind eye to bad cops. I'm disgusted with law enforcement for that very reason. Not to mention, 99.9% are not good officers, 50% would be closer to the mark and that's likely an overestimate.
I'm sorry but just my personal experiences with law enforcement officers in multiple states and the military casts great doubt on that number. Additionally if an overwhelming number of LEO were honest, why would they continue to need "unions" and continue to hide the misconduct that is often rampant? It is time for law enforcement, officers and organizations to police their own, own up to violations of the law, misconduct and bad officers. Besides if a doctor screws up, gets hammered with disciplinary action(which their professional organizations also try to cover up, they get their name published on the naughty lists. Why are cops any better?
