  I believe/predict the NYSE will stop the act of raising your hand and yelling. This will devistate the auction business. You won't be able to buy a beer or hotdog at the ballpark. Rock concerts will become a thing of the past. Political speeches will never be the same. The taxi companies will be left in ruins. Depressing; I know.

  I see what you are saying, and I believe you are right. I just have a hard time believing you can be a fan, but knowingly not support what you are a fan of. I'm trying to apply the CwF+RtB to this example.
  
  I guess that my mistake is actually assuming that every fan must pay to support. So, you can still be a fan by not monetarily supporting, but maybe promoting? Maybe there are different types/categories of fans, and you need to know how to connect with each of them to get them to perform their duties. Be it a promotion fan, a paying fan, or other class of fan that has a purpose. Am I close?

  I have a problem with calling people who are downloading torrents of atari games fans. The game is available in many formats for "fans" to purchase. I would think the correct way to term these people is potential fans.
  
  In my opinion, terming them correctly will allow you to better serve your customer.
  
  I am a fan of Zakk Wylde's (Black Label Society) music, so I buy it. Someone who downloads the torrent is a potential fan, or not a fan at all.

  The military protects democracy through land, sea, and air. The next plausible threat is cyber. It only makes since to set up a command to defend this area. If you lock the front door, the back door, and the kitchen windows, but leave the bedroom windows open, guess where the attack comes from. I can't speak for how serious the threat is, or will be in the future, but better to be prepared. I will not disagree about contractors using fear to scoop profits.

  The Way I See it

  To me, it seems obvious that Pomplamoose created video covers to attract attention. Once they achieved that, you were introduced to their own original works.
  
  This is no different from an up and coming band playing covers, mixed with their original works, to attract a certain fan base. You, as the fan, associate with the cover, and then will most likely pay closer attention to the bands original works. Am I missing something?

  I applaud torrenting your own game for publicity. You get your game out there how you want it to look, so you kinda control your product. Maybe I am nieve, but why would someone "crack" the game if it was already out there? Even minus the leaderboard feature. It seems like it would be too much of a pain for a little bit of bragging rights. Once you get hooked on the game and want to be on the leaderboard, you go buy it. If you don't like it, you aren't out the money, and you aren't pissed at the game company for trapping you into a crappy game. This has nothing but win written all over it.
  
  Although I see simularity to shareware from back in the day, I would classify this different.

  William, It isn't like opening your XBOX360 and only adding hardware that makes it a better system. These people are adding hardware which requires hacked (COPYRIGHTED) code to operate. This is defined as cheating the system. Not to be confused with legally making the system better. When did it become acceptable to do something illegal to better a product?

  To MOD the XBOX 360 you will have to rework copyrighted code (That in itself is a no-no).
  
  I have to agree that 99.99% of people MOD consoles to cheat and play copied games. Modern Warfare 2 has been deemed the biggest media release to date. So, why not catch the modded systems with a game that almost everyone will own? It isn't like MS hid the fact that they will ban you from LIVE if you MOD your system. I actually enjoy the humor in the thought of all the cheaters, excited to play MW2, put in the disc to finally play, and get banned!
  
  The MS conspiracy theory is laughable (banning modded consoles to sell new ones). I am a LIVE customer, and don't want cheaters playing on servers with me. Thanks MS for banning these cheating scums.
  
  People who MOD their systems should be thankful that they are only losing LIVE privelidges for that console. In my opinion, they should also lose their LIVE account, and be accountable for the reworked copyrighted code.

  Tactics

  on Once Again: DVRs Not Killing TV, But Helping It
  I noticed a tactic some networks are using. They end their show 1 minute later (for example House on Fox). How does this affect anything? Lets say you record house at 9pm then want to record two shows at 10pm. Well now you have THREE shows at 10pm (since house records till 10:01) and the DVR will not record one of the 10pm shows. Slick - huh?
