Software patents are a racket. Whatever the arguments are about protecting innovation, they simply don't apply to the vast majority of software patents. They are simply a means of transferring money from the software industry into the legal profession.
Because they are such an obviously bad idea, one might hope that they could be summarily abolished. I doubt whether this will happen. East Texas have a nice revenue stream coming in, effectively from the people who buy software around the world. It costs more because those Texas lawyers have to be paid. Are any programmers being protected by these actions? I doubt it./div>
