"If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

People need to vote with their wallets. If they care about music, stop buying from the major labels and support local and independent music by buying direct from artists.
Artists also need to wake up and see who is actually screwing them over and realise that they now have better options.
This is why 99% of the music I buy these days is from here:
HTC's making it easy for users to root their devices is the reason I decided on the One M8 for my phone upgrade.
Fiio's allowing users to mod the interface of the X5 is one of the reasons (sound quality and format support being the others) I went for that device over others.
Kobo's support of the basic .epub format is why I went for a Kobo e-reader over a Kindle.
If the device ain't flexible, I ain't interested./div>
At a time when it has been announced that our public borrowing has increased yet again.
Massive budget deficit (trade deficit too) leading to more and more debt and we throw money at an agency looking out for one industry. You couldn't make this crap up./div>
Cactus VPN: VPN for hiding what I am doing from my ISP. Smart DNS for getting around pointless geographical content restrictions. All for less than a Netflix subscription//div>

I do suspect some Hollywood accounting here./div>
