Handwriting Notes

from the how-quaint dept

In this age of email does anyone actually write handwritten letters these days? Apparently some people do, and this article is encouraging folks to at least give it a try - even if you have to type it first to get the ideas out.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    No Subject Given

i personally love a good handwritten letter.. it's weird, i actually tend to communicate more with my friends that don't have email access -- when you have lightning fast email, conversations tend to be short, usually degenerating into some form of a mass joke forward list. not that i don't like getting movies of animals in various states of embarrasment.

    Re: No Subject Given

I have no problem with handwritten notes, I just don't think I would have the time to deal with writing them... I have a few very close friends who don't use email much - if at all (and, yes, I'm still friends with them) and I instead use the long distance telephone system to keep those friendships going (not even dialpad). But, I have found that you can have serious discussions over email (or instant messaging software as well).
