Internet Spinoffs Not So Nice Anymore

It wasn't so long ago that every company was looking at ways to spinoff the internet side of their business to "maximize shareholder value". I had a sneaking suspicion it might come back to haunt them. If, as people have been claiming, the internet is the future, does it really make sense to relinquish some control on your future? Maybe, maybe not. At this point, however, many companies are regretting their initial decision.
