Xerox Denies Bankruptcy Plans

from the makes-you-wonder dept

Apparently, lots of people are thinking that Xerox is about to declare bankruptcy. The company, however, denies it, and tells people to stop being stupid. They've got plenty of money. Really. Trust them. Of course... when a company claims they don't have any cash problems due to their huge "credit line" rather than the cash they have in the bank or incoming revenue, you have to wonder a little bit.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    XEROX SHOULD SPLIT

I would love to see Xerox split up into independently run companies. There is too much management overhead in the organization as it is. There own internal network is a complete mess and needs straightened out. Blah blah blah.

Given that Xerox is one of the world's foremost R&D companies around, let them split up so that each new organization can compete more effectively to become top dog in their own competitive marketspace. FOCUS MAN, FOCUS!!

      Re: XEROX SHOULD SPLIT

Probably a smart move. Of course, in theory, the larger company should be more efficient with overhead since they can spread more duties across a smaller number of people. However, I think it's clear that Xerox has yet to show their ability to do that well...
