Build Your Own Internet Radio

from the do-it-yourself dept

A nice little article talking about a guy building his own "internet radio" and what that could mean for the future of internet radio. I definitely think there's potential, but it's got a long way to go. Right now it's still too complex and annoying for most of the population to bother with. Until it reaches the same simplicity of the regular radio, it's not going to be a huge success. The article does get one point wrong, by the way. It claims that Kerbango hasn't set pricing or a release date, but evidence suggests otherwise. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure who would pay $300 for a more annoying, and less user friendly radio.

      Re: techdirt radio

Argh. Don't remind us. Let's just say that once it got to the point that it involved 4 people, all of whom were involved with startups that kept them busy, our random emails to try to set up a time when all of us could get together failed miserably.

The one guy who had all the equipment (including some I borrowed from others) at last check had suddenly (and for no clear reason) moved 400 miles away (with the equipment). Sooooo... we'd still like to do it, but we really need to figure out a time and place.

If anyone happens to have a nice recording studio in the SF Bay Area they'd like to let us use for free... that would be cool. Contact us.
