Disposable Cell Phones

from the call-and-dump dept

Get ready for disposable cell phones. For approximately $20 you may soon be able to buy a cell phone that will allow you to talk for an hour, before you throw it away. They're hoping to sell them in places you wouldn't normally get a cell phone - such as a fast food chain. Of course, I guess they're only for outgoing calls, since how many people are you going to give out a 60 minute telephone number to?

    short lifespan phoine number

    > how many people are you going to give out a 60 minute telephone number to?< br>
Might be quite useful actually. How many time have you given your phone number to a girl only to then start wondering "what if she turns out to be a total psycho? AND she has my home phone number". Having a phone number which 'expires' after a certain length of time could be quite handy - giving you a short while to figure out if giving out your *real* number is a good idea or not :o)

Well fuck you! I always have ideas and as soon as I tell someone (like a friend), he blurts it out saying it was his idea and the other people burts that they came up with that idea. Usually a month or two after, I say something, some damn company has heard about from some guy that called them up telling they this great idea and claiming that is was his idea. For example, Laser Tag Pens or Sonor distance finder for Realtors, all that was stolen from me. So shut, the fuck up!!

        Re: Pissed Off

In 1986 my high school computer repair class was working a drive that would copy megnetic images, and wouldnt care about the data. It work fine on low density disks, but we didnt have the know how to make it work on high density disks. Two years later someone released a drive called the option board. It copied EVERYTHING under the sun. This was back in the days when copy protection was in the form of disk errors, half tracks, etc...

No one stole the idea. I've had lots of other ideas that I've seen manifest, some I've spoken to others about, some I didnt. Some of my ideas I've even found out someone else thought of long before me. While you may think your thoughts are unique, they arent. People with simular knowledge bases will come to simular conclusions about things, which means they will also come up with some of the same solutions to problems, or come up with the same ideas for new technology.

Spewing out 'they stole my idea' makes ya sound like a petty sissy. Next time you have an idea, keep yer mouth shut and follow thru with the idea.

I personally think the idea of disposable cell phones is sickening. I'm not an eco-freak, but for christ's sakes, are you that fucken unorganized in your life that you need a fucken disposable cell phone??? Why not sell the phones and then buy time on them like everyone else? Can we really say that a disposable cell phone is good resource management in this age of green this and green that?

Well...to be honest, it does not look like anyone will catch on to Earth friendly ideas until their lack of regard/respect is physically biting them in the balls. I am with you on the ideal, but look at the North Eastern USA: it would be a tough argument to say that anyone around there is thinking at all about anything. Why would they, it is too late for them; they already live in a corporate waste land.
Actually, disposable cell phones will do extremely well. Think about the people with horrible credit. They can still be connected. I am buying some stock!
P.S. That guy talking about "fuck you," and "that was mine," is a whiner. Would you like some cheese with that wine?

Well our bookkeeper just called and bought a phone from Trac and it cost her $40 and you just keep buying more time as you want and keep your old number. Do not know how much it is per minute but may be a good emergency phone anyway. I agree this is a fairly typical sign of our times although there have been times I needed a phone on the road and had none......there ya go. As to stealing ideas: there must be mind thieves out there in space as this happens all the time from what I hear.

Thank you for this info. I sent an email to the Today show and never got an answer. She has been on other talk shows and this last appearance showed the technology. This is wonderful. I was just thinking that I need this. I don't want to go into the expense of a cell phone and I love the convenient NYC Metrocard and telephone cards. This is all that rolled up in one. Parents can give this to their children and don't worry about a huge bill.Great for emergencies and will be a great low priced gift and a cheap giveaway for corporations. I would love to invest in it. Keep me updated. I am also going to try to contact her.

I like her idea, actually! And I bet that those of you who are laughing at her NOW, will not NOT be laughing so hard at her later! I am sure that even Bill Gates encountered alot of skepticism when he started out, and for his biggest critics, I have this to say....Look at where he is now. Are you doing as well as he is, financially? I bet not! Nope, its a great idea....I don't have a cell phone because I don't want to be tied in to a contract with anyone. But this idea would work for me!
