Sprint Offers Up Prepaid Internet Access Cards
from the well,-that's-useless dept
Sprint is trying to be innovative by selling prepaid internet access cards that will let you log into the internet for a set amount of time from any computer. This seems like an interesting idea until you actually think about it. Then you realize the many reasons (mostly covered in the article) why this is a silly idea. The only times this would be useful is on a computer that doesn't have internet access, and most of those don't seem to want internet access. It makes for a nice announcement from Sprint, though. I'm sure some mid-level marketing manager is very proud.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Prepaid Internet
It never ceases to amaze me that I am hearing the same thing I heard in 1992 regarding Prepaid Calling cards, which is now a $6.5 billion dollar a year industry. There is actually a whole world that you seem to be missing that wnat privacy, limited access, deal in cash, etc, etc. Try thinking about it!
