The Case Of The Missing CD

from the cool-stuff dept

I don't want to get in trouble for liking another technology, but... here's a CD player with a hard drive that automatically records the music of any CD you put into it. So, if you lose your CD it's all been stored on the player's hard drive (assuming there's enough space). The player also plays MP3s (of course). It has a bunch of other cool features as well. The only downside is that (not surprisingly) it's a bit on the pricey side.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    not so cool...

Um. This isn't that amazing or anything. Maybe if they had a DVD version of it? Still wouldn't be *that* cool...

All of my CDs are already "backed-up"....

      Re: not so cool...

Well... it is a bit different. I mean, most of my CDs are backed up as MP3s on my computer, but I had to rip them, and it's not quite the same as having it recorded directly onto your CD player (and not as MP3s - I think).
