Forget Hackers - Beware Of Idiots
from the saying-it-like-it-is dept
A nice summary of the problems this week that hit both Microsoft and Travelocity. While many companies are afraid of what hackers can do to them, they should also be worried about their own idiots messing things up. Of course, in Microsoft's case, the hackers followed the idiots to make matters worse.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

I think we've all been there...
a boss
a co-workers
or maybe even ourselves
It is wise advice for companies to contract out their more difficult tasks... this way they can pick an choose whom to hire/fire, in an almost darwinian fashion. A good NDA/NCA (non-disclosure/non-compete agreement) can go a long way towards eliminating any concerns about non-franchised employees taking core knowledge elsewhere. The days of not punishing those who fsck up with the hope that they'll learn something and somehow contribute to the quality control process (AKA the Demming process) are long gone. Either get it right the first time and earn your $120/hr, or pack your cardboard box and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out you stupid, lazy m*th$rf@ck^r.
Am I right, or am I right... thought so.
