It Was Outlook's Fault

from the everything-goes-wrong dept

An amusing little story about a technology day from hell that all started because Outlook automatically accepted a meeting invite. What I don't understand is (1) why the guy didn't just tell the other folks that he couldn't make the meeting once he realized what happened and (2) why he couldn't buy new ink cartridges over the weekend. However, once you get beyond that, it is still an amusing story - mostly because it's not you living through it.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    can't see the article

When I call up this story (in Netscrape), I
get an annoying ad overtop the text that
won't go away. It might be an amusing story,
but I can't read the first part. Please avoid
referencing stories that don't allow you to read them.
It pisses off valued readers early in the morning.

Hey, I'm sorry, but it works fine for me - so I really had no way of knowing how it would look for you. What I do with the site is try to find interesting news - not design it. I didn't realize I had to submit all the news I found to you for approval before I posted it to the site. I do try to find news that is readable, but if it works okay for me, there's really not much else I can do.

Besides, I think you should be complaining to IDG... since it is an IDG news story, and not me. I just link to the news. I didn't design the page it was on.

Sometimes your web browser may cause such problems to Outlook account. Check whether you have blocked or make any changes to anti-virus software that you installed to protect your device. I found other related solutions at Outlook login problem and solutions.
