Blackberry Style Keyboard For Your PDA

from the how-small-is-your-keyboard? dept

There have been a few different attempts at making keyboards for PDAs, and the current foldable model is pretty popular (and looks fairly usable). Now, a company is making a tiny two thumb keyboard that will attach to PDAs. It looks very similar to the keyboards used for Blackberry devices. Most people I know who use a Blackberry like that keyboard a lot. Of course, part of the reason it works is the form factor of the device. If you add a huge PDA to the top of it, I could see it becoming a bit unwieldy.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Used it

I tried that keyboard recently at PCEXPO and it works OK, but it does make the Visor clunky. Still its more convenient than the other PDA keyboard options.

    Chatboard on an Ericsson phone

I've got an Ericsson Chatboard on my R289LX phone. It plugs into the bottom of the phone and can be used anywhere text entry is needed; addressbook, SMS and web access. $39US as an add-on. Works pretty well but has yet another form of key layout.
