Consumers Not Interested In Buying Downloadable Music

from the this-is-a-surprise? dept

While just about anyone whose ever downloaded a song could have told you this, we had to wait until Gartner did a study to get some "official" proof (which the music industry will ignore anyway). It turns out that consumers aren't interested in buying downloadable music. One of the main complaints is the lack of a common standard that all the big labels will use - so it won't be possible to get all the music you want in a standard format. Plus, the fact that the music industry is doing their damndest to make buying music online the most annoying and difficult thing possible. It is somewhat funny to watch this case study in the making.
