Microsoft Looking To Sue Hacker Who Broke DRM Product

from the silly-lawyers dept

Ugh. Instead of just admitting that their product wasn't all that secure after all, Microsoft's lawyers are looking to take legal action against the programmer who broke their digital rights management offering. I understand why they're doing this, and it's really not a surprise. However, it would have been nice if they had read the hacker's rant and realized they were being stupid in offering up a DRM product that removed normal, completely fair uses of digital content.

    They admit it

"Instead of just admitting that their product wasn't all that secure after all,"
From the article being commented on:
"Usher said Microsoft's content partners had been very understanding. ``We have been forthright that no technology and no DRM is 100 percent secure,'' he said, adding that Microsoft has anticipated hacks such as this."
Looks like they are quite openly admitting that there cannot be a truly secure system.
