Fighting Over Who Invented Packet Switching

You would think that an argument over who invented something 40 years ago would have died out by now, but it seems like this one might be getting stronger. It seems that there's not much agreement on who invented packet switching (the basis of how the internet works). A scientist, who some credit with the invention, published a paper posthumously, trashing a different scientist who also claims credit for it. Other scientists and engineers are lining up behind one or the other to give them credit for the concept. Anyone else think this is just silly? Isn't it also possible that both came up with the same basic idea through different methods as well?
