People Still Addicted To Pagers

from the obsolete-this dept

While many people think that beepers or pagers or whatever you call them are now quite obsolete thanks to mobile phones, there are plenty of people who absolutely refuse to give them up. I never saw the appeal of one after getting a mobile phone - but the article does bring up a bunch of reasons why pagers are still useful to some people. Of course, it's a dwindling number, which has caused many companies (including Motorola - who makes most of the beepers out there) to leave the business.

Fair to Good article and observations, but...

What is it with these people that feel that "compelled" to answer a cellphone rather then to place it in silent mode and use Caller ID features to get back to people, still at their convenience, as they would a pager?

    pagers are still useful

Pagers still have benefits over cellphones. The big three for me are:
    -Better reception and coverage inside
    -Month vs day battery life
    -Smaller device with bigger screen
