Working From Home: It's A Nice Commute
from the growing-in-popularity dept
More and more people are discovering the joys of working from home. Whether they're small companies run out of the home, or telecommuters, a lot more people work out of their homes on a regular basis these days. Many people prefer it to working out of an office. A lot of the change is due to technology, but also a changing view of how people can work in distributed environments.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

I've been working from home for about 2 months now. I can't imagine having to commute in every day again. In fact, I just won't do it again. I was worried about productivity, since my wife and kids are home all day too. However, I've found that the watercooler chats in the office were a huge timesucker, and that I am pretty good at focusing on the task at hand from a home office environment. I haven't touched the PS2 during work hours, not even once!
